Spirit Medium Readings: A Two-Part Process

Spirit Medium Karen T. HluchanWhen you sit for a spirit medium reading with me, there are two parts to the reading for each loved one in spirit who comes through. The first part of the reading involves identifying the loved one coming through, and the second part of the reading involves the sharing of his or her personal message for you. It is very important to identify who is there in spirit before sharing the message, because who it is coming from is as important as the message itself. Without knowing the identity of the message sender, some messages would make little to no sense to the receiver.

How Information is Transmitted
When spiritual beings communicate with me, they utilize all of my senses—sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste, and inner-knowing (the sixth sense)—for mind to mind communication. Instead of processing information that is picked up by the senses and sent to the brain from outside of myself, I need to focus within to pick up on the information that is being transferred to me from your loved ones in spirit. The process is much more complex than just sitting down and talking with someone. Spiritual beings no longer inhabit a physical body and, therefore, must use their minds and other energetic means to communicate across dimensions. It is an abstract form of communication that requires absolute trust, openness, and receptivity from me, openness and receptivity from you, and clarity and loving strength from your loved ones in spirit.

Confidentiality and Ethics
As a spirit medium, it is my job to clearly relay the information I am receiving in an ethical, honest, and responsible way. It is a great honor to be able to serve you and all spiritual beings through my gifts, and I treat each communication that I receive and share with the reverence it deserves. Because of the very private information that is shared in a reading, I also take your confidentiality very seriously. While, in a teaching setting, I may give examples of certain communications that come through in a reading, I do not disclose names or identities. Private information remains private. This even holds true for my own family members. When I provide a reading, the information remains confidential. It is up to the person sitting for the reading to share what he or she wants to divulge with others.

Part One: Validating the Identity of the Communicator

Questions and Responses
When giving a reading, I have a set of questions that I ask your loved ones in spirit when you and I are working together to identify them. The questions are basic in the beginning, and then they become more in-depth as we go deeper into the validation process. For instance, I ask “Are you male or female?” and “What did you look like?” In response, I receive warmth on the right or left side of my body to indicate male or female, and I am sent an image of your loved one which usually shows what they looked like close to the time of their passing, as you would remember them best, or as they would like to be remembered. The image that they send not only shows me how they looked, but also may give me keys to understanding your loved one’s personality and identity, as well as the relationship they have with you. For instance, when a man comes through wearing red or maroon, this indicates to me that he is a father figure to you. If he is wearing a flannel shirt, it indicates that he may have been more of the outdoorsy type who preferred to spend time outside more than inside. At the same time, he may be creating a tingling sensation in both my hands and sending me an image of a machine shop, indicating that he worked with his hands using the machinery that I am seeing.

Identifying the Communicator
As the information is transmitted, I share it with you, the sitter. When I have gathered enough specific information that could help you to identify a loved one, I will ask whether this person or animal (pets do come through!) sounds familiar to you. The best answer you can give is yes, no, or I don’t know. If the person sounds familiar, but you are not quite sure of who it is, please state that. More information will be brought forth to help you identify them. If you say no and continue to do so as more information is brought forth, I will have to ask your loved one to step aside, and a message from that particular loved one will not be shared. It is important to note that when loved ones come through in a reading, they are yours. They are not mine, nor are they random beings popping in to intrude on your reading. They could be a deceased friend, family member, a pet of yours or of someone you know or knew, neighbor, in-law, acquaintance, or co-worker. It could be a great grandmother that you never met, but who knows you from seeing you from heaven. If this is the case, there may be records, photographs, and people still living that may be able to help you confirm the identity of the person coming through.

My best advice is to keep an open mind. You never know who is going to come through in a reading, nor do you know how they are going to come through, or what messages they will share with you. Remember, they are coming through with information from their point of view, not yours, and they also have the benefit of understanding more about life on earth now that they are in heaven.

Deeper into the Validation
As I am sharing information with you, I am, at the same time, asking for more information from your loved one in spirit about what he or she did for a living, and how he or she passed. You do not hear that part of the communication because I am asking those questions directly to your loved ones in spirit using my mind, not speaking them out loud. In addition to seeing what the communicator looked like, they will also send me symbols that mean something to you, and will help you to identify them. For example, as I was describing a father figure who was coming through, he sent me an image of a lemon. I asked the sitter if this meant something to her in relation to her father, and she replied that it did…her father used to eat lemons raw. This piece of information, in addition to the description of him and various other factors about his personality, what he did for a living, and how he passed, confirmed for her that it was indeed her father. He was well-known for eating this unique culinary delight. The symbols are unique for each individual, and are sent to help trigger your memories of them.

As I mentioned, all of my senses are utilized during a spirit medium reading, and your loved ones in spirit may be communicating with me utilizing several of them at the same time. This rapid overlapping of visions, sounds, tastes, smells, feelings, and knowingness creates a richer and more detailed communication that helps both you and me to identify and understand the messages that are being conveyed. For instance, when I am trying to identify how a person passed, I may be feeling a push like an impact in the region of my chest, seeing a car rolling over, and hearing the word “accident” all at the same time. This indicates to me that the person most likely passed due to an impact to the chest during a car accident.

Wanting to Hear from a Particular Loved One
If for some reason a loved one in spirit does not come through in a reading, it does not mean that they do not love you or want to communicate with you. There are many reasons why this might happen. For instance, other loved ones in spirit may want to share messages during a particular reading because the message coming from them would have a greater impact on your life. It may also be too soon to hear from someone in spirit. Even though contact can be made with loved ones who are recently passed, it is a good idea to give both them and you time to adjust to the transitions that have occurred. For those of us on earth, we need time to grieve. For those who have passed, they need time to reorient themselves to heaven. In most cases, it is good to wait at least two months before sitting for reading in which you hope to hear from a person who has passed. That said, when people ask to hear from a particular person I cannot guarantee that they will come through. I can ask them to join us for the reading; however, it is up to your loved one in spirit whether they come through at that time. Free will is a gift that is ours to keep, including after we cross over into heaven.

Let the Information Flow
Your loved ones in spirit do their best to convey information in a way that helps you to readily identify who they are in order to get to the heart of the reading, which is their personal message to you. One way to bog down this process is to continually interject questions such as, “What is their name?” or “If this is really my cousin, where did she go on vacation in 1972?” If it is appropriate for your loved ones in spirit to furnish this information in a reading, they will do so without prompting. They do not have time during a reading to give every minute detail of your life or theirs. They truly are doing their best to communicate. Some loved ones in spirit are more skilled than others at communicating with spirit mediums. Like any skill, it is knowledge that is learned, and some have had more practice at it than others.

Even though you may have a set idea in your mind about the information you would like to receive, it is important to know that I, as the spirit medium, receive only the information that is shared by your loved ones in spirit. He or she decides the type of information to be imparted, and this might not include preconceived notions of what you think they would share with you. Continually interjecting with questions has the potential to disrupt the flow of spirit-to-spirit communication, which requires a steady energetic connection and level of concentration that exceeds every day communications.

In my mind, I like to think of us as a team working together in harmony to transmit, receive, and share communications across the dimensions. By permitting communications to naturally flow from their spirit through mine to yours, you are allowing your loved ones in spirit to convey messages in the way they think is best, which will help you to get the most out of your reading. After you have identified your loved one in spirit and they have shared their messages with you, you can ask questions of them if you have them.

Part Two: Personal Messages for You

Sharing Knowledge, Love, and Guidance
Once the identity of your loved one in spirit has been established, it is time for part two of the communication process with your loved one in spirit – his or her personal messages for you. There is always an important reason for a loved one coming through in a reading. Often, they share messages of import regarding your life. This could be about events that occurred in the past, are occurring presently, or will occur in the future. Your loved ones in spirit watch over you from heaven, and they know what you are in need of with regard to your life. That said, what they share with you is not trivial. They have gone through a lot of effort to communicate across dimensions, and what they share could have a profound effect on your life and the evolution of your soul.

Messages of love, forgiveness, guidance, and more are shared with the hope that you, the sitter, will be open and receptive to the messages. For example, I have had loved ones in spirit come through asking for forgiveness for abusive treatment, neglect, or having a hard time sharing love. The forgiveness that he or she is asking for is not for the benefit of the communicator, but for the recipient of the reading. It may be imperative for the sitter to release all of the pent up negativity and resentment against this person in order to move on with his or her life, and begin to establish healthier relationships with others. Other times, loved ones come through to let a sitter know that they are, indeed, in heaven and at peace, and that his or her passing was meant to be. Each message that comes through is crafted with divine love, and gets to the heart of matters that are most important to the sitter from the viewpoint of heaven. It is up to the sitter whether he or she chooses to accept the information given, and to use it in a way that uplifts and improves his or her life.

Equally Important
Both parts of a spirit medium reading are equally important to you, the sitter. Validating the identity of the being coming through establishes the connection between you and your loved ones in spirit, and also provides the background context for the messages you are about to receive from them. The messages that come through from your loved ones in spirit contain invaluable pieces of information that come from the heart of their spirit to yours, and are divinely conceived and directed.

It is my hope that this article provided you with a more thorough understanding of how spirit communication works, as well as an appreciation for the complex process of communicating spirit-to-spirit. I also hope that it allows you to get the most out of your next spirit medium reading.

Receiving Closure and Managing Grief Associated with the Loss of a Loved One

AngelYour loved ones in spirit and other members of your heavenly support team know when you are struggling to move through certain stages of the grief process. While grieving for the loss of loved one is healthy, becoming stuck in a certain stage of the grief process can be very detrimental to your life.

Four Stages of the Grieving Process
The four main stages of the grieving process, which I describe in detail in my book, How Have You Loved?, are outlined below:

  • Denial
  • Anger
  • Sadness
  • Acceptance

A person may fluctuate between the various stages before they reach the final stage of acceptance and peace with a loved one’s passing. Often, people spend a lot of time in the second and third stages of anger and sadness. The anger is usually directed at God for “taking them away” from you, and the great sadness is often for the physical loss of the person’s presence in your life. It is important to note that God does not punish us. He does not call your loved ones back home to heaven in retaliation for any of your actions, past or present. When a soul is called home, it is because it is the time that was agreed to prior to birth.

Agreements Prior to Birth
The time and the manner in which someone physically passes is determined before a person is born on earth. In heaven, we create soul contracts which outline the various lessons that we are going to learn on our spiritual journey on earth. Members of our soul groups, such as our immediate families, coworkers, extended family members, and more, work with us to create plans that will enable each of our souls to grow and reach their full potential.

Life Lessons
The lessons that are selected may require great sacrifices, such as leaving life on earth at an early age in order to help others to learn how to cope with the tragic loss of a loved one. Successfully working through the various stages of grief and learning to accept a person’s passing are two examples of the outcomes of lessons. There is help along the way, such as messages sent to you by your loved ones in spirit, people who enter your life to provide assistance, and books that offer knowledge that broadens your understanding that endings must occur in order for new beginnings to take place.

Answers with Perfect Timing
The relationships that you have with the people around you can offer you powerful resources for healing in ways that you have not even imagined. Our heavenly support teams support us and work through us on earth by placing people in our paths at the right time and the right place. Friends, loved ones, acquaintances, and even strangers may provide answers to our prayers with a perfectly timed call, visit, or meeting that gives us the information we need about our lives. Many times, these instances seem like amazing coincidences; however, there are no coincidences, but rather fantastic examples of coordinated efforts by our heavenly support teams to answer our prayers and requests.

Heavenly Support Teams Join Together
It is interesting to note that people who come to me for spirit medium readings have actually been prompted to do so by their heavenly support teams. Your loved ones in heaven contact the loved ones in heaven who are helping me with my work on earth. Together, they begin the collaboration process to facilitate our meeting with one another.

Your heavenly support team knows when and how you would benefit from direct communications from your loved ones in spirit and the angels, and they ensure that you receive information that prompts you to set up an appointment with a spirit medium. Usually the prompting is both internal and external. You may receive messages and signs that stir your curiosity about mediumship or a reading, and you may have seemingly coincidental experiences occur in which a friend suddenly starts talking about spirit communication, or you see or read something that piques your interest about heaven and receiving messages from the Other Side.

Additionally, your loved ones in spirit will chime in by placing signs in your path that remind you of them and to, hopefully, prompt you to seek out a spirit medium or knowledge that will help you to interpret the signs and messages they send you. To get your attention, your loved ones in spirit may send you signs in the form of objects or images that make you think of them, unusual electronic disturbances that alert you to their presence, music that touches your soul and answers your prayers, and scents piped into the air, such as their perfume or cigarette smoke. Your heavenly support team will also send you intuitive messages in their attempts to steer you toward a meeting with a particular spirit medium, book, or positive path for growth.

Free Will is a Beautiful Gift
What you do with your life lessons and the promptings you receive is your choice. You may choose to ignore the assistance that makes itself known in your life every day, or you can choose to open yourself to the growth and healing that is available. Your loved ones in heaven and your angels want to help you succeed, and they will do what they can to help you on your journey. When you choose to ignore lessons and assistance, you tend to make your journey on earth significantly more challenging for yourself. When you keep an open mind and embrace the mentality that life is a spiritual journey for the benefit of the soul, then you can learn how to live your life in a way that allows the greatest benefit while releasing self-imposed stress, grief, and sadness. The beauty of the gift of free will is that each one of us is given the power to control the choices we make that govern our lives.

You Can Take It With You!
Even though someone may be physically separated from you on earth, your relationship with that person, as well as the love you share, continues on. Your loved ones in spirit watch over you from heaven, they hear your thoughts about them, and feel the love that you send their way. In return, they continuously send you messages of love, healing, and guidance, as well signs that they are around.

Receiving Closure
Your loved ones in spirit know how you would benefit from receiving information that provides healing to your heart and your soul. When participating in a spirit medium reading, they will share with you their love, information about what they are doing in heaven, advice for you about your life, information that will help heal your heart and soul, and more. The peace and healing that comes from receiving direct messages from your loved ones in spirit through a spirit medium reading can provide comfort and closure to those who are grieving, as well as guidance and light for you and your loved ones on earth.

Are Spirits Constantly Communicating with Mediums?

Honor Yourself and OthersPeople often ask me if spirits communicate with me everywhere I go and if they urge me to share messages all of the time with people in my vicinity. The short answer to this question is both yes and no. I keep the channel open to remain receptive to messages from spirits; however, when and why spirits communicate with me differs according to the circumstances I am in.

Respect Goes Both Ways
As a spirit medium, the respect I have for spiritual beings is also extended from them to me. Spirits know that I have duties that I need to perform on earth and that I, too, have a life I need to live. They know that I need time to relax and to attend to my own needs; therefore, they do not constantly hound me to share messages. As I mentioned, I do leave the channel of communication open at all times; however, it is for the purpose of remaining open to the daily guidance I receive from my support team in heaven. When I am preparing for a formal spirit medium reading, I consciously open the channel even further with the specific intention of receiving and sharing messages for the person or people in attendance.

Spirits Can Be Persistent
There have been times when spirits have urged me to share a message with someone who is sitting or standing next to me; however, the circumstances surrounding these situations usually has a much higher purpose and more far-reaching implications than I am made aware of at the time. When a spiritual being is strongly urging me to share a message with someone I have not formally met, I do so with honor and respect. This includes a proper assessment of the circumstances, and the asking of permission to share the messages I am receiving. It is very important to note that I do not just walk up to someone and blurt out information about their loved ones in spirit. It is irresponsible and rude to throw information like that out to people without having asked permission to share the message. By asking permission I am allowing the person to prepare themselves for the receipt of a message, and it also gives them the option to receive it or not.

Honoring the Spirit of Each Being
Spirit communication is to be approached with honor for the divine source that dwells within us all. That honor includes showing respect to the spirit who is communicating with me, as well as to the spirit that dwells within the person with whom I may be sharing divine messages.

Misconceptions about Spirit Mediums
The misconception that mediums just walk up to people on the street and share messages is rooted, in part, in the television show, Long Island Medium. It is unfortunate that this show cuts out the portions in which permission is asked to share a reading. When watching the show, people tend to forget that Theresa Caputo is followed around by television cameras. She must ask permission from store owners to bring cameras into their establishments, and at the same time, I would hope that she asks for permission to share messages from spirit, should they arise. As viewers, you do not see these transactions taking place, you only see her sharing messages in spirit because the producer wants you to have the impression that these events are occurring spontaneously for the reality television format. While I am very grateful for what Theresa has done to raise awareness about spirit communication, the way her show has portrayed it has caused confusion and unrealistic expectations in viewers. The format of the shows leads people to believe that spirits urge mediums to walk up to people they have never met and deliver messages all of the time. As I had mentioned, there have been very special and unique times that this has happened to me; however, I assess the situation first, and then ask permission before sharing the messages.

Clearing Up an Additional Misunderstanding
One of the other misconceptions that surround mediumship is that mediums should be constantly sharing messages with people for free because it is a gift. I have actually had people demand, not ask, that I give them a message on the spot. To demand anything from anyone is very rude, and it does not honor the gifts, the person with the gifts, or the source of the gifts. No matter what gifts a person may possess, it is always better to ask than to demand or even expect someone to give of themselves.

Visiting Hours
If you would like to receive messages from your loved ones in spirit, ask to set up a time for a reading. Like doctors, mediums have specific times that they devote to sharing their gifts of healing with others. Both doctors and mediums deserve time off to attend to their own lives, have fun, and to recharge themselves in order to serve others with honor and respect. If we did not do this, the imbalance of constantly giving and not receiving would leave us severely depleted of energy and, therefore, less effective in our roles as healers. The same holds true for you. If you are constantly giving and not receiving in your life, eventually there would be nothing left for you to give.

The True Meaning of Namaste
In all that you do, it is a beneficial demonstrate respect and honor yourself and others. In this way, you can maintain more cooperative relationships that serve to inspire and uplift your spirit and that of others, rather than deplete them of energy. There is a time and a place for everything, and by honoring yourself and those around you, you will be much happier with the results of your interactions.

Why Recognizing Signs from Spirit Is Important to Your Life Path

Life on earth is an accelerated course for soul evolution. We have voluntarily opted to live a lifetime on earth to learn lessons for the development of our souls, and the negativity we encounter speeds up the process. In heaven, negativity does not exist. Soul development does occur there; however, the lessons are based more on the giving of service, learning about the many levels of existence, and exploring the multi-faceted methods for communicating across planes.

In our journey through life, we are not left to our own devices. Each of us is given extra assistance from our heavenly support teams of God, the angels, loved ones in spirit, and spirit guides. They send us signs and messages on a daily basis that can help guide us on our life paths. The key to unlocking the knowledge that is at our disposal is to learn how to recognize and decipher the communications that are being sent from your support team in heaven. The benefits to receiving this insider advice is almost immeasurable, as it can have far-reaching effects on the positive development of your soul.

Ascension Removes the Veil
When our loved ones ascend to heaven, knowledge that was obscured from them while on earth is revealed, giving them a better understanding of the reasons behind their experiences on earth. They do not become all-knowing, but they do attain greater insight that enables them to see the events on earth from a more informed perspective. This insight can be utilized to help you navigate your life path if you open yourself to the guidance that is shared with you on a daily basis by your heavenly support team.

In addition to your loved ones in heaven, you have seasoned spirit guides and angels that have specific knowledge about your chosen life path. They have access to your Akashic Records, which contain information about your past incarnations, as well as the plans for your current incarnation on earth. The plans contain the life lessons you have chosen to learn, as well as an outline of certain events that could potentially occur in your lifetime. These events could be major turning points in your soul’s evolution that come as a result of the choices you make about you, your relationships, your thought processes, and your purpose.

In essence, you are never alone. There is always a benevolent spirit nearby who is willing to assist you with your life path. Having an open mind, and a heightened level of awareness about the existence and presence of these spiritual beings, are the first steps you can take toward recognizing and receiving messages from your heavenly support team.

Your Personal Tour Guides of Life
Every day, I receive messages from spirit that are like sign posts directing me toward the best path in my daily life, which also impacts my overall life plan. It is similar to having extremely knowledgeable tour guides that help me to navigate the vast experiences of life on earth. Because these tour guides are in the energetic form of spirit and have advanced communication abilities, they utilize all of our senses to get their messages across to us. The greatest challenge they have in communicating with human beings is the built-in system that purposefully creates obstacles through the illusion of fear. This system is referred to as the human ego.

Breaking through the Wall
The mental block that is put in place when we are born, otherwise known as the human ego, is a wall that can be breeched through conscious awareness of the existence of life beyond the human experience. By opening your mind to the extraordinary possibilities of the universe, and trusting that loving spirits do exist on other planes, you can consciously open the communication channel that moves past the ego and delivers specific and helpful guidance for your life path.

Everyone Is Born with the Gift of Mediumship
Everyone is born with the ability to communicate via spirit. It is the way we communicate with God, the angels, our loved ones in spirit, spirit guides, and each other. Our prayers, thoughts, and requests for assistance are sent to God, the angels, and our loved ones using telepathic transmissions from one spirit to another, similar to the way in which wireless signals are sent from one computer to another. When we communicate with each other on earth, these signals are being sent back and forth via our spirits; however, it is something that occurs in the background of conscious awareness. When you are speaking with someone, you know in your heart when a person’s words do not sound or feel right. There may be a nagging thought in the back of your mind or a slight clenching of your stomach muscles that may be indicating to you that this person is not speaking his or her truth. This intuitive information is coming from your spirit which houses a higher consciousness and understanding of spirit-to-spirit communication.

Even though everyone is born with the gift of mediumship, it does not mean that everyone on earth is destined to be a medium who shares his or her gifts on a professional level. Just as certain people are born with the ability to excel in sports, others are born with the ability to excel in spirit communication. Your path is unique to you, and if mediumship is your calling, you will know it. If it is not, you can still learn how to use the skills you have to communicate with your heavenly support team in a way that will benefit you and your loved ones.

A Map to Lead the Way
The benefits of tuning in to the positive messages that come from enlightened beings in heaven can be equated to being given a map to help you find the most beneficial path to get to your destination, which is the evolvement of the soul through life lessons. Please know that spiritual beings will not give you the answers to a test or solve all of your problems for you. They will only give you sign posts or messages to guide you along the way. It is your job as a soul seeking knowledge and learning lessons to make decisions through your free will. If you were given all of the answers, lessons would not be learned and there would be no point in taking the journey.

Examples of Signs
There are many ways that our heavenly support team sends us messages. It is an abstract form of communication that uses all of our senses, and goes beyond straightforward verbal and non-verbal cues. Your mind must be open to experiencing and recognizing the extraordinary in the ordinary that surrounds you each day.

Here are a few of the more common methods used to transmit messages:

  • Music – Songs that you hear in your head, or that play on the radio at seemingly coincidental times, are often messages from spirit. Pay attention to the lyrics that you are hearing. If you do not know all of the words to the song or the title, look it up. There is a message in it for you about a current event in your life. You could also be hearing music that reminds you of a loved one who has passed away. For instance, my dad loved the band, Journey. I often hear “Don’t Stop Believing” in my head or on the radio at times when I need a positive boost. As a note, negative songs and lyrics are not sent from your heavenly support team. They only send positive messages to you.
  • Visual Clues – When you see an object or image that reminds you of a loved one, it is them letting you know that they are around and that they are sending you their love. For instance, one morning I turned on my television and there was a show on about model trains that popped up on the screen. I have no idea what channel I had left the television on the night before, but this was odd because it appeared to be a very old show. I immediately knew this was my dad letting me know that he was around and that he was sending me his love. You see, his major hobby was collecting model trains. There are no coincidences in this world, and many people may have written that off as strange, but if you open your mind you can learn how to recognize these subtle, and not-so-subtle, messages from spirit.
  • Feeling a Presence – Some people on earth have a very strong sense of extrasensory feeling, or clairsentience. They can physically feel the presence of a loved one in spirit. I often feel the presence of my cats who are in heaven when I lay down to go to sleep. I feel the warmth of their love in the shape of their bodies that they had on earth. It feels like a living cat has curled up next to me, and it may be accompanied by the feeling of a slight depression in the bed where they are laying. This may sound scary to some who have not experienced it; however, for those of us who have, it is comforting to feel the warmth and affection of loved ones in spirit.
  • Scent in the Air – Have you ever picked up on a scent in the air that does not seem to fit in with your surroundings, such as cookies baking in your office or cigar smoke in a non-smoking hotel? Loved ones in spirit alter the molecules in the air to pipe in certain scents that remind you of them. It could be the smell of their perfume or a mechanic’s garage. When you pick up these unusual scents in the air that seem to have no logical source, who is it that you think of? Is it your grandmother who baked great cookies for family gatherings? Is it your father who used to love working on cars, and often came home smelling of grease and oil from his mechanic’s garage? The scents are usually strong and distinct, and they may be picked up on by others in your vicinity. That is because the scent is actually piped into the air when they send this type of message to you.
  • Cravings Out of the Blue – Have you ever had a sudden craving for your deceased mother’s apple pie, a craving so strong that you can actually taste it in your mouth? This is yet another way that spirit sends messages to us. The way they send this message is similar to the way they send messages that tickle our sense of smell. They alter the molecules in the air to send energy associated with certain tastes to the sensors in our mouths. This type of message is usually confused with physical cravings for certain foods. It is important when you experience a very strong craving to take a moment to think about whether this is a message being sent from spirit. Do you associate what you are craving with a particular loved one in heaven? If so, you can acknowledge the message for what it is, and not feel compelled to find someone who baked an apple pie like your mother’s.

Whenever you do recognize the signs sent by your heavenly support team, be sure to thank them for their efforts. They are always pleased when their transmissions are successful, because it means that you are open and paying attention to their loving messages.

Five Essential Actions to Turn Your Dreams into a Reality

Turning Dreams into RealityThe dreams you hold in your heart are like an eternal flame that lights up your spirit and illuminates the paths that you will take in life. The flame is always lit; however, it is up to you to determine how brightly it shines. I would like to share with you five powerful actions that are essential to stoking the flame of your dreams to the brightest of heights.

Provide Service from the Heart
Speak and work from the heart at all times. Remind yourself of the reasons behind your dreams. Why are you doing what you are doing? Is your main purpose to bring joy, happiness, healing, and light to others? When taking action toward your dreams, whether it is interacting with others or taking care of administrative details, hold your intention within your heart. By doing so, you will naturally take the most beneficial actions toward your dreams, and you will be rewarded with personal fulfillment that comes from providing service from the heart.

Give and Receive with Grace
Give of yourself from the heart. When you give, do so without the expectation of receiving anything back but the satisfaction and joy that comes from giving. Know that you will be the recipient of unexpected gifts from the universe that will be given at the perfect time and place in your life. Remember to include yourself in the giving cycle. Be attentive to your own needs, and give yourself the gifts of time for relaxation, joy by participating in fun activities you enjoy, and love by appreciating the beautiful light of your soul.

When receiving a gift, be gracious and thankful, knowing that you are fully deserving of the abundance being conferred upon you. There is always balance in the universe. For every action, there is a reaction, and for every gift you give, you will receive one in return if you remain open and receptive to the flow of love to and from the heart of your spirit.

Gifts given and received may be in the form of physical objects, services granted, opportunities, time, and support. Remain alert to opportunities to give and receive, as they may appear when they are least expected. Some of my best experiences have come out of situations in which I touched the heart of a person I just met, and that gracious giving led to the gracious receiving of a host of gifts that touched my heart and helped me to move forward with my dreams of service to humankind through my gifts of mediumship.

Be Passionate and Let Your Light Shine
As you take action toward your dreams, it is important to live in the moment and enjoy the journey. Each step in the process can be as exhilarating as the actual fruition of your dreams. When you share your natural excitement and passion with others as you go forth in the world, you will draw others toward you who want to be a part of your mission. This will lead to a cycle of win-win situations. As you help others, others are helping you, which in turn, helps even more people. Let your light shine brightly in this world, and you are guaranteed to generate even more light and passion through the help and support of others who are drawn to your genuine enthusiasm.

Honor the Spirit within Each Person You Meet
Each person on this earth wants compassion, love, respect, and a sense of belonging. Successful interactions occur when you honor the spirit within each person you meet.

To begin, give yourself the compassion, love, respect, and sense of belonging that you desire. You can spend a lifetime looking for it outside of yourself, when all along it was waiting to be discovered within your own heart. Once you have learned how to honor yourself and your own beautiful spirit, it is easier for you to recognize and honor the spirit of others. You know how it feels to be loved and appreciated because you already provide that for yourself. You can share your appreciation and love with others by honoring boundaries, listening and speaking with respect, being kind, and being open to giving and receiving through the heart of your spirit.

We are all united by the same connective thread that is at the heart of all life—our spirits. The more we recognize and honor this connection, the more successful we will be in making this earth a better place.

Move Forward without Fear
Fear is an illusion that comes from the human ego. It will work against you, alienate you, and block your path if you let it. Know that it was put in place as a way of challenging you to grow as a soul. You are meant to step beyond the self-negating thoughts in your head, and give power instead to the positive thoughts and beliefs about yourself. The true essence of your soul is love and light. When you recognize that and bring it forth, you are tapping into the most powerful and positive energies in creation that sync you up with your soul’s life plan. It also opens you up to the extraordinary help and support from your heavenly support team, as well as your fellow citizens here on earth. Visualize the successful outcomes of not only the achievement of your dreams, but also each step that you take on your journey. Keep your focus on the present, and believe that you can achieve anything you set out to do.

Exploring the Gifts of Mediumship and Psychic Abilities

Meditation for the SoulWhen communicating with spirits, it is important to understand that the process is complicated and abstract. It is not as simple as sitting down and having a chat with a friend. In order to communicate across dimensions, spirits use a combination of images, sounds, feelings, smells, tastes, and stored knowledge. This is done through the manipulation and use of energy. Like us, spirits need to learn how to communicate across dimensions. It is a skill that, once learned, can be built upon as a soul continues to evolve through the ages.

Mediumship
People on earth who display strong abilities to communicate with spirits are referred to as mediums. In most cases, mediums are souls that have been in existence for a long time, and have been working on mastering the art of spirit communication across various dimensions. Similar to people who excel or specialize in certain skill sets in their jobs, mediums may also specialize in communications with certain beings, such as animals, angels, spirit guides, and the spirits of human beings.

Psychic Abilities
There are additional skills sets that mediums may possess, but are not confined just to them. These skills include psychic abilities, past life regression techniques, crystal energy work, telekinesis, and more. People who intuitively know information are referred to as psychics. All mediums have psychic abilities, but not all psychics have mediumship skills that they have mastered. This may be because they have not yet reached that level in their soul’s evolution, or because they have willingly chosen to specialize in the art of intuitive knowledge in this lifetime.

Your Divine Gifts
It is interesting to note that intuition and the ability to communicate via our spirits are gifts that have been granted to all human beings. We have the opportunity and ability to work on and strengthen our skills in this lifetime. While you may not master intuitive and mediumship precepts in this lifetime, you can learn how to better utilize the gifts that God has given you through education and practice.

The Benefits of Developing Your Intuition
Through the refinement of intuitive skills, you are giving yourself the opportunity to receive guidance from your support team in heaven. They send you messages through your intuition to help you with your life path. When you listen to and heed your intuition, your path may be easier as a result because you are accepting help that is being freely given from spiritual beings whose vision greatly exceeds our limited perceptions on earth.

Communicating Through Spirit
The ability to communicate through our spirits has been granted to us because that is how we communicate with God, ourselves, and one another. There are many ways to work on this gift including meditation to get in touch with the spirit within you, learning about mediumship to communicate with spirits outside of yourself, and communing with God within your own heart to develop your relationship with the divine.

Working from the Heart
If you choose to work on developing your skills, have patience with yourself and keep your mind open to the possibilities. Trying to force or manipulate results with wishful thinking or with the intent to harm others will backfire. To truly develop your gifts, it requires a commitment from you to work from the heart, as gifts from the divine are to be approached with honesty, integrity, faith, trust, and love, as well as a strong desire for truth and to be of service to others.
