Healing from Childhood Abuse: A Very Personal Journey with Divine Purposes for the Soul

May 14, 2015 by SpiritMedium Leave a Comment

ChildSuffering from abuse as a child, whether it is verbal, physical, or sexual, can have a significant impact on your life as an adult. Often, people who are abused at a young age experience problems relating with others on a personal level. This is because their earliest experiences with relationships brought them pain, and eroded their trust and belief in others. The very people who were supposed to love and protect them introduced them to a world of hurt instead. Because of this treatment early in life, there are special challenges that people who are abused face regarding self-esteem, feelings of abandonment, a lack of feeling safe and loved, and the ability to trust others.

Fear of Retribution Leads to Underreporting and Unhealthy Relationships
Often, cases of abuse go unreported. Children who are abused are usually threatened by their abusers with more pain, or even death, if they tell someone about the horrors that they are living through. The people committing the abuse may also put the responsibility for the abuse on the children by telling them that it is their fault it is happening. Because children are in the formative stages of social development and look to adults for behavioral cues, they often accept the blame and internalize the resulting pain and confusion. Therefore, children often suffer in silence. In their minds, they are afraid to tell anyone and often pretend that they are happy, even when they are suffering. They become masters at hiding their feelings by keeping problems and secrets to themselves. They also may come to believe that their feelings are not as important as those of others, and may often put the needs of others before their own. These learned behaviors are a direct result of the way their abusers treated them. Tragically, this forms a skewed and damaged basis for future relationships for many of these children.

Healing Over a Lifetime
The personal journey of healing from childhood abuse may involve a lifetime of searching for peace, trust, safety, and love. Forgiveness plays a very important role in the healing process, as does learning how to love who you are. As adults, we can look back and try to make peace with what has occurred by extending forgiveness to all who have hurt us. Remember, forgiveness does not mean that you condone hurtful actions, it means that you consciously release painful situations in order to move forward with your life and growth. You may even get to the point where you see how these events made you more compassionate and empathetic toward others. Therapy and self-help books may also play an important role in working through the pain by learning how to relate to others and to build trust. Even though these steps may be taken, some people may still experience difficulties in their relationships. Because of the damage from the past, certain issues may trigger negative memories and, therefore, cause guards to be raised due to a perceived threat to their emotional or physical safety. Left unaddressed, the angst may build to unprecedented levels. The pressure may cause that person to withdraw from relationships, become depressed or even suicidal, lash out at others for seemingly no reason, express extreme fear or distrust, engage in unhealthy behaviors, cause self-inflicted pain, or exhibit other negative behaviors that are not easily comprehended by others.

Support and Love from Above
The true pathway to freedom from the effects of childhood abuse begins from within. It is a very spiritual and personal journey. People who are or have been abused need to know that their feelings matter, that their voice is heard, and that they are safe and loved. They also need to know that their experiences were not a punishment from God. As a person who has experienced childhood abuse firsthand, I know this journey well. I have traversed every aspect of its effects and have searched high and low for the reasons, as well as how I can heal and get back the trust and feeling of safety that was taken from me. From the depths of my soul, I have searched for ways to help myself and others with these issues. Therapy has helped; however, the most powerful answers and guidance I have received have come from my heavenly support team, including God. In order to receive the information, I had to go within and pay attention to what they were communicating with me through my soul.

My First Meeting with God
The first time God came to me, I was struggling with relationship issues. I felt like I was running on a treadmill of recycling negative issues and going nowhere fast. I was getting mad at God and asking why I was experiencing the same issues over and over again. In great despair one night, I cried myself to sleep, feeling hopeless and broken. When I woke up the next morning, I laid in bed not ready to get up yet and face the day. It was then that I experienced an incredible wash of love that came over me, accompanied by a brilliant white light that filled my vision. The feeling and the light were so strong and all-encompassing that I knew it was not of this earth. I knew in my soul that it was God sending his love directly to me, and that he wanted me to know, without a doubt, that I was loved. It was such a profound and magnificent experience that I never wanted it to end. Even now as I write about it, that feeling of love is still there, and I know that I can reach out and feel it in my soul whenever I need help. It was God’s way of telling me that he loves me and is always there for me whenever I need him.

My Second Meeting with God
The second time God came to me was during a similar time a few years later. I was getting so mad at God and asking him why he was testing me with painful situations over and over again. I felt I had suffered enough in my lifetime, and I wanted to know why he felt it necessary to keep torturing me. As before, I cried myself to sleep. The next morning, I awoke and did not get out of bed right away. As I lay there, I had a vision of being carried in God’s arms up a large, white staircase which looked like it was made of marble. God was carrying me like he would a baby, cradled in the safety of his arms and wrapped in his love. He was wearing a long and flowing white robe with a sash cinched at the waist. At the time, I could not see his face. As he carried me up the steps, he assured me that he was not testing me. He said he was my father and, like a father, it was not his job to step in and save me from all of the difficult situations I encountered. If he did, I would not learn or grow. He said it was hard to watch me struggle, but he knew that if he stepped in it would do me more harm than good. God told me he loved me and that he was always there for me, even when he could not intervene. He also said we are to love one another as he loves us—unconditionally, and that it is our connection with one another that makes us strong. As he climbed the wide steps, I could see a landing and then a second set of steps extending up to a place where a blinding white light shone. It actually hurt my eyes to look at it. I knew with all of my soul this was the light of heaven, and that it was not my time to go there yet. As we reached the first landing, I noticed two white thrones sitting side by side. They were exact replicas, except in size. God set me down on the landing and sat in the larger throne while guiding me to sit in the smaller throne to his left. He reached his left hand out and took my hand in his. Without words, we sat holding hands like old friends sitting together in the comfortable silence of each other’s company.

Profound Experiences Lead to Profound Understanding
Those profound experiences with God shook up my world. My understanding of why we are here and what we are meant to accomplish started to open up. There was never a doubt in my mind that God exists, I just was not sure of what his role was in my life until then. Instead of seeing God as the one responsible for my pain, I saw him as a friend, a father, and an almighty being who loved me enough to know when to step back and let me grow. Through further exploration with my heavenly support team, I received messages about the soul contracts we make before we are reborn on earth. Many of these contracts contain agreements to experience difficult circumstances in order to grow as souls. Instead of viewing my abuse as a karmic punishment from God, I saw it as a profound experience for learning how to reconnect with the heart of my spirit and to understand our true reasons for being.

Misguided, Not Evil
On an important note, the people who commit the act of abuse are not inherently evil. They are misguided human beings who also have difficult lessons to learn in their lifetimes. Believe it or not, we made the agreement through a soul contract to experience painful circumstances that were meant to push each of us to learn and become better people. Whether we actually do learn and grow is entirely up to each individual. For those who are abused, there are many lifetime lessons including learning how to reconnect with the beauty of our souls, how to forgive, and how to trust in God and others. People who have committed abuse have lifetime lessons of their own, including learning about how hurting others hurts themselves, how to respect and honor the self and others, as well as how to overcome the internal shame and pain of mistreating others.

Reconnecting with Your Heavenly Support Team
Whether you have been abused, committed abuse, or are in relationships affected by abuse, we are all here to learn lessons about love, forgiveness, and compassion. We can help each other in positive ways by speaking and working from the heart, and reconnecting with the best friends we will ever have – ourselves and God. You and God are together on this journey, and it is a relationship that is built upon love and trust. I did not always trust God because of the difficult experiences I had in my life, but now I do, and I find I have more peace in my heart than I have ever had before. This does not mean I no longer fall back from time to time into feelings of angst. It means I am quicker to recognize and understand why I am experiencing upsetting emotional reactions. I now know how to better handle the situations that trigger those feelings. Trust and love is built. Sometimes it takes baby steps to get there, especially when you have experienced hurtful circumstances during the foundational years of your life. Your guys and gals in heaven have your back, and they will help you. Your job is to trust in their assistance, and follow through on the guidance you receive from them through repeated signs and messages.

May Peace be with You
Be at peace, and know that everything you experience has a divine purpose. God is not punishing you; rather, he is helping you to grow into the beautiful being that you are today. Our job is to help ourselves and others to heal through compassion and love, as well as through faith in the divine circumstances that help us to grow as souls.

Namaste!

Working with the Darker Side of Human Nature

Eastern State Penitentiary Cellblock 7
Cellblock 7 at Eastern State Penitentiary

Recently, a friend of mine asked me if I would like to visit the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The penitentiary was in operation for 142 years, and closed in the 1970s. While it was in operation, thousands of inmates inhabited its cell blocks for crimes as minor as petty larceny and as major as multiple murders. After it closed in the 1970s, it lay abandoned for years. While actively in operation, it was designated as an official historical site and, because of that, it retained a protected status. In the 1980s, the penitentiary was reopened for tours. Over the past few decades, restoration of the site has been underway. Many people claim that it is haunted by the souls of those who were imprisoned there. Because I was curious about the energies that I would pick up on there, as well as the spirits of those who had the misfortune of being incarcerated at this historic institution, I agreed to take a day trip and open myself up to a unique way of learning about people of the past.

Why Explore the Darker Side?
Given that I would be connecting in spirit with some of the country’s most nefarious criminals, some people may question why I would voluntarily expose myself to the inevitable scenes of violence, negative feelings, troubled personalities, and more that the men and women of the past would send me. My answer to this is simple: I believe in learning from every experience in life. Both positive and negative experiences have a lot to teach us. As a spirit medium, I am exposed to many cathartic experiences that I do not necessarily want to see, feel, or hear; however, it is only through research and experiences with beings from all walks of life that I can learn about, and strive to understand, the depth of human nature.

Exploring the Past through Mediumship
Walking into the castle-like fortress, I opened up to spirit in order to reach back into the past to see what it was like for prisoners who were incarcerated there. I mentally sent the intention to my spirit guides to focus on the earliest days of the penitentiary. Immediately, I picked up on the energies of the people who were initially housed in the cells. Extreme loneliness, depression, and even madness pervaded the souls while in residence. Each one was confined to an individual cell with no contact with human beings, other than limited communication with the guards and the chaplain. Due to the lack of human contact, they often spoke out loud to themselves and suffered from hallucinations. Solitary confinement did not reform them; it depleted them of their humanness and their ability to relate to others. Reality became a blur. They no longer knew what was real or what was a figment of their imagination. Paranoia and desperation clawed at their souls. It did not matter whether they committed petty crimes or the more serious crime of murder…each one of them was kept in solitary confinement for years at a time. Some of them adjusted, but most of them suffered from delusions and depression.

Reform through Solitary Penitence – A Revolutionary Idea
When the facility opened in the 1800s, the founders thought that the best way to reform convicted felons was penitence in solitude. The idea was that this would give the person time to think about their crimes and search for forgiveness from God. This revolutionary idea was conceived as an answer to the problems that had emerged from keeping prisoners in one holding cell together. In the past, prisoners who congregated together usually emerged from prison with quite an education in crime. However, before the construction of the final cellblocks from the original design was completed, the architecture was altered to include a second story. The number of people incarcerated had greatly increased, and it was not long before solitary confinement was no longer possible.

Eastern State Penitentiary_Cellblock 5

Cellblock Five
Eastern State Penitentiary is a very unique structure. It has a round rotunda in the center of the building from which the main cellblocks spread outwards, making it look like a large asterisk from an aerial view. When standing in the center, you can see down the corridors of each of the main cellblocks. When I glanced toward cellblock five, I picked up on some very strong negative energies. I believe there were two reasons for this. The first piece of information I picked up on was the unfair treatment of the men of color who were confined there. It was a segregated cellblock, and prior to the civil rights movement, the men incarcerated at the penitentiary were treated as though their lives were not as important as others. The lives of these men were devalued, and violence toward them from guards and other prisoners was often overlooked. The second piece of information I picked up on had to do with riots. I kept getting the impression that a riot originated on that cellblock, possibly the last riot that took place in 1961. I performed some research on this and have not yet uncovered whether a major riot started there.

Not Ghosts or Lost Souls
There was so much energy and information I was picking up from the spirits who were sharing information with me about their stay at the penitentiary. All of the souls I communicated with that day had crossed over into heaven. They were not ghosts or souls that were lost or stuck in purgatory, nor were they in “hell.” Hell is a concept designed to instill fear as a way of preventing negative behavior on earth. To me, hell is not a place but a state of mind that can be reached through our own actions on this plane. These souls were communicating with me from the Other Side. Their demeanors were calm as they conveyed the stories of their lives. Energetically, they felt lighter than those who have not crossed over into heaven. Souls who are temporarily stuck between heaven and earth feel energetically heavy due to their unresolved sadness and frustration. They do eventually cross over to receive healing, and it is often the angels who help guide them back to heaven’s gateway.

Death Row Stories from the Other Side

Death Row, Eastern State Penitentiary
Spirit Medium Karen T. Hluchan communicating with spirits on Death Row at Eastern State Penitentiary.

The most interesting experience I had was on Death Row. As soon as I walked in, I felt several souls rush forward wanting to communicate with me. I sensed that some of them were maniacal or deranged during their lifetimes on earth. Several had suffered from acute mental illness that led to an extreme lack of empathy in their lifetimes for their victims. I asked one man to step forward to tell me his story. He sent me lightning-quick flashes of images of him committing his crimes accompanied by three words: murder, rape, molestation. I could smell the smoke of his cigarettes in the air and sense that he was about 5’10” or 5’11”. He was decidedly thin with pock-marked skin, and he walked in a laidback manner in which he slightly leaned back making his legs and hips move forward before the rest of him. He was remorseful. In fact, all of them were. I did not realize it at first, but as soon as I had set foot on death row and reached out to those in spirit, my head bent down to the point where I was looking at the floor. A feeling of shame was transmitted through the link. My friend who was with me commented on how my head remained in that position the entire time I was in the cellblock. It is interesting to note that the man in spirit told me that all of the men who were on death row at the penitentiary belonged there, not just for the crimes they were convicted of, but also for the ones they got away with.

Healing in Heaven
Despite what people think, all souls have the option to go to heaven and receive healing. God is the ultimate forgiver, and when people commit heinous crimes on earth, they are given the opportunity to heal and do better the next time. Souls that behave in such a negative fashion are usually very young souls that are living from a place of fear rather than love. That fear drives them to perform acts that harm themselves and others. Perhaps the environment in which they are raised, as well as their mental stability, impact their behaviors. That is not to say that the parents are to blame. There could be many extenuating factors present in society that drives someone to choose a life of crime. We are all in control of our choices, though, and when people are mentally unstable or are continually exposed to negative circumstances, sometimes people choose to take the low road or the road that gets them to where they want to be regardless of the consequences. Judgments such as that often have severe consequences not only for the people who are their victims, but also for the perpetrator because crimes committed against others are crimes committed against themselves.

Spiritual Explorations Lead to Enlightenment
When I originally agreed to the exploratory field trip to Eastern State Penitentiary, I was not sure what I would experience or be shown by those in spirit. I was not concerned about demons, negative entities, or possession, because these are human concepts born out of fear. I knew that I would see, feel, and hear things through my spiritual connection that would be unpleasant and, at times, horrific. I also knew I could turn off the connection at any time. If I felt I needed extra assistance, I could always call on God or Archangel Michael to help extricate me from a negative spiritual situation. I rest comfortably in the knowledge that I am safe and loved by God and the angels. I know that fear has the power to create illusions that seem very real. One of our tasks on earth is to learn how to manage the emotions that are based in fear in order to navigate past them to the truth. Through my spiritual connections and mediumship abilities, I have learned that all of us are connected to one another through the most powerful energy in the universe—love. All of the work I do originates from love, as does my connection to every being. We are all spiritual beings on journeys of the soul. Moreover, we are learning lessons that enable us to grow and evolve in the light and love from which we were created.

Break Free from Your Self-Imposed Prison

January 13, 2015 by SpiritMedium Leave a Comment

Happy WomanWhat if at this moment in time you could be happy and fully accept every circumstance in your life as being 100% perfect as it is? Do you know what that looks like or feels like? Let’s freeze frame this moment in time right now and examine our lives. Right now, I am sitting here writing this article, which is an activity that I love to do. You are reading it, which I hope is an activity that you love to do. There are many aspects to both of our lives that may seem imperfect or problematic, depending on how you look at them. For instance, I am a single woman who has spent many years searching for a great partner to share my life with. I could be very upset, depressed, or feel hopeless about prayers that seem to have gone unanswered, or I could see and fully embrace that there is an important reason or reasons why, up to this point, that I have remained single. I can tell you this, it is not because God is punishing me, or that I am not worthy of reciprocated love. It is because that was the path that I was supposed to take in order to get me to this very moment in time. From this point forward, anything can happen.

Infinite Possibilities
By letting go of any preconceived notions that I have about how my life will go, or even my day, I open myself to infinite possibilities. Stop and think about that for a moment. Drink it in. Allow your mind to expand to the fact that anything can happen; that your life does not need to go down a certain path, but that it can go down any path at any given moment. Just because certain circumstances have occurred in the past, it does not mean that they have to occur that way in the future. You are not handed a script each morning for the events of your day. Anything can happen…even your most heartfelt dreams coming true. Let yourself envision all of the wonderful possibilities for you. See your dreams coming true, and feel it in your heart. Know within your entire being that you are meant to be happy, and allow that knowing to permeate your entire being – your thoughts, your feelings, your heart, your spirit.

Let Go of the Wheel!
The desire to control each and every aspect of our lives actually closes us off from divine intervention that could help us in our efforts on earth. Frustration, anger, and disappointment can end up ruling our thoughts when events do not turn out the way we think we want them to go. These negative emotions have the potential to cloud our judgment, making it difficult to see the positive in seemingly negative situations. It could be that if your life had gone in the direction that you were trying so hard to steer it in, that you would miss out on even greater opportunities for happiness. By letting go of the desire to control circumstances and others (which is futile, by the way), you open yourself up to allowing the universe to step in and answer your prayers in the best possible ways.

Telling the Ego to Take a Backseat
The human ego is the mechanism in our minds that drives that desire to control, and it was put in place as a challenge that we are meant to overcome. The ego is very persistent, and is constantly looking for opportunities to jump in and heap on a slew of negative thoughts that are based on the illusion created by fear. It loves to try to make you think that events are more important than they really are by pressing you with guilt to perform certain actions, such as throwing an expensive birthday party for your kids or buying that “must-have” gadget. When you learn how to recognize the ego’s presence and voice in your thoughts, you can thank it for doing its job well, and let it know that you are not in need of its services at this time. You can be stronger with your dismissal if it persists, and the best way to dismiss it is to embrace the love within your heart that you have for yourself and others. Let the voice of the ego fade into the background, and give rise to the voice of your spirit which will guide you to your heart’s desires.

Action from the Heart
By the way, letting go of the need to control outcomes does not mean that you take no action. It means that you take actions that bring you happiness and you find joy in each moment, no matter what the task. It also means that you let go of expectations and allow your heavenly support team to step in and help you. There are many ways that guidance will come to you. The easiest to recognize is when it comes through repetitive thoughts and messages to take positive actions. Please note that the ego may try to step in and tell you that these actions are far-fetched or impossible to carry out. For instance, I have been given guidance to write my next book. By following the guidance and writing it, I may be triggering events that will answer my prayers. If you find yourself dragging your feet about taking a certain action, it may be time to thank the ego again for doing its job, and let it know that its services are not needed at this time. If you are having difficulty recognizing guidance from your heavenly support team, you may want to perform some emotional and spiritual housekeeping to help you to open up.

Many of us carry the pain of the past in our hearts. The human ego loves to dredge up this pain to keep us mired in feelings of futility. Remember, it is the ego’s job to place challenges in our way, and it will use whatever means necessary to block us from happiness. It is our job to recognize its tactics in order to move past the obstacles, and embrace the light within our spirits from which true guidance is born.

To move forward with an open heart, accept your past and thank all of the circumstances that have led you to this moment in time. All of the situations you have encountered have served an important role in the growth of your soul, and now it is time to release any lingering sadness or negativity, and move forward with love and understanding. Envision a beautiful, soft pink light in the center of your chest, which is also known as your heart chakra. Truly feel the loving energy as it sweeps away the past with acceptance and forgiveness, and replaces it with the lighter energy of love that grows to encompass your entire being. Allow yourself to revel in loving energy so that you can recall it any time you feel the need to release or re-release any negative feelings that may have tried to accumulate in your heart. The past is over and cannot be relived, and the future is yet to be. Only in the present can we truly live and enjoy each moment, and in this very moment, everything is exactly as it is supposed to be.

Setting Yourself Free
By embracing happiness and fully accepting every circumstance in your life as 100% perfect as it is, you are putting your absolute trust in God. You are loving every part of you, just as you are. You are accepting that you are in the perfect place for you right now. Most importantly, you are living, embracing, and accepting this moment. Here are some of the affirmations that I use to reaffirm my acceptance and faith in the perfection of this moment:

  • I place my absolute trust in God, and know that the universe fully supports me.
  • I am safe, and I am loved.
  • I love every part of me, just as I am.
  • What I think of me is more important than what anyone else thinks of me.
  • I am in the perfect place for me right now.
  • I know that I am loved absolutely by God, and that he wants me to succeed in life, and will help me to do so.
  • I am open to the guidance I receive from God and the angels through repetitious thoughts and messages that are guiding me to my true heart’s desires.
  • I know that God’s idea of success in life has to do with how much love I share with myself and others. My success does not have anything to do with the size of my bank account or the type of job that I have, but about the lessons in love that I incorporate into my daily existence.
  • I forgive any and all who have hurt me, knowing that we are all human, and that we all make mistakes.
  • I accept that every situation and experience in my life has made me into the beautiful person that I am. I thank God for all that has transpired, is transpiring, and will transpire in my life.

The Effects of Freedom
My life has changed in profound ways through the freedom I have embraced with these concepts. I am happier and much more relaxed. I can see on a daily basis how I am being helped by God and my heavenly support team. By no longer being attached to specific outcomes or trying to control events, I find myself flowing much more easily with the events and circumstances that come into my life. This change in my outlook came about because I felt like I was constantly fighting my way through life. I was tired, and I asked and pleaded to God to help me. I did not want to spend my life battling uphill. I want to be happy and to enjoy all that life has to offer. In the weeks after, I kept hearing the words “let it go” in my mind whenever I was struggling with a particular issue. The hilarious part is that the song from Disney’s Frozen® would then play in my mind. My guys and gals in heaven have a great sense of humor.

By sharing this information with you, I hope that you, too, can experience a level of happiness and satisfaction with your life that enables you to make the most of it. Everyone, including you, deserves to be happy…and you can be when you set yourself free.

Namaste!

With Light and Love,

Countering Meanness with Kindness

FriendsWhen someone is having a bad day, they may lash out at you just because you are there, not because you had done anything to invoke their anger. It is unfortunate when someone behaves in this manner; however, we are all human and, at times, our emotions get the best of us.

Reasons behind Hurtful Behavior and Our Reactions
Exhaustion, highly stressful situations, feelings of oppression, rejection, and other strongly negative contributing factors make us more susceptible to lashing out at whoever is within our vicinity. The longer a person is subjected to negative conditions, the more distraught they may become. In fact, they may not even seem to behave like themselves because they are having a hard time moving beyond a state of distress. Your instinctive response may be to fire back at the person in an effort to protect or defend yourself. This is because you may feel threatened in some way by their behavior, as anger can be perceived as an attack. It is under these conditions that people on the receiving end of a person’s negative and uncharacteristic behavior should try to take a step back before replying with more anger, which may lead to an escalated exchange of negative energies, as well as damaged or broken relationships.

Assess the Situation before Reacting
Before responding, try to look at the situation from the other person’s point of view. What is going on with them that they would lash out at you for what seems to be no reason? This behavior can be a cry for help. It can also be that this person is harboring a lot of negative feelings within themselves that they are having a hard time handling. A person who lashes out is usually feeling a tremendous amount of pressure and stress, and like anything else, that pressure needs to be relieved or it will cause an explosion. Instead of responding with anger that will feed into the existing pressure, do your best to respond with kindness and compassion, even if the person does not appreciate it at the time. In this way, you may stop the escalation of anger and prevent it from infecting you. Your understanding and empathy may be the very act of kindness this person needs to relieve their stress and realize just how badly they were behaving toward others who did not deserve it.

Ask for Assistance from Above
If you are having difficulty dispensing kindness in the face of someone else’s hurtful behavior, ask your heavenly support team to help you to increase your compassion toward others. In addition, ask them to help the person who is in distress, as they are the ones most in need of assistance. Send the distressed person love and light from your heart and spirit, and request that they receive the healing they need to relieve them of the distress and pent up anger in order to live a happy and satisfied life.

What Is Inside of You?
If you find it is you who is lashing out at others and walking around with anger in your heart and mind, then it is time to take an in-depth look at what is really bothering you, and apologize, if possible, to those that you hurt.

To discover what is going on, the first step is recognizing and identifying the true problem. For example, getting extremely angry at your partner for leaving their socks on the floor after asking them several times not to, may only be a surface trigger that signals the existence of a deeper problem, such as of a sense of not being heard or appreciated at work and at home. Often, it is miscommunications and misunderstandings that lead to problems within relationships. By examining and uncovering the true problems, you can begin to work on positive solutions to heal them.

The second step is to look for solutions that will improve the circumstances that are causing the problems. Are there actions you can take to improve your situation or remove yourself from it? If not, are there ways that you can change the way that you perceive the situations that will ease your emotional pain? It may seem as if there is no way out and that the problems are formidable; however, that line of thinking can be the product of limited thinking that is boxed in by only seeing the problem. Try your best to get past step one, and open your mind to various solutions. There are other options available. They may not always appear to be the options you want to take; however, if you can let go of your anger and stress long enough to clear your mind, you may discover that the options may lead you to better opportunities. Be sure to ask others for help. Brainstorm ideas with respected friends, family members, or colleagues. By being truthful with yourself and others as you go through this process, you will not only help yourself on a human level, but also on a soul level, as you evolve and develop through these empowering experiences.

The third step is to be kind to yourself. If you are working to the point of exhaustion, take a step back. A break from the stressful situations will allow you time to refresh and look at situations with a more relaxed state of mind. Most important of all, ask your heavenly support team of God, the archangels, past spiritual masters, spirit guides, and loved ones in spirit, to help you. They are eager to lend a hand, and will do so if you ask for their assistance and are open to receiving their help. Sometimes, too, when you leave an opening for your heavenly support team to help out, they may just solve the problem for you through the presentation of new opportunities.

Multiply the Kindness in the World
As you go throughout your day, keep in mind that we are all human, we all make mistakes, and we are all doing the best we can under the circumstances that affect our lives. By countering meanness with kindness, we provide opportunities to make positive contributions that have the potential to bring healing to our lives and the lives of others.

The Importance of Self-Care

October 1, 2014 by SpiritMedium 2 Comments

Lake at Omega_300x200In the midst of life’s chaos it is very important to take time out to take care of you. Even with a multitude of responsibilities on your shoulders, if you keep pushing you will not only burn yourself out, but also will block you from opportunities that could make your way easier. God knows that you can only accomplish so much in one day. The Creator does not want you to push yourself to the point of exhaustion and illness, but rather when these times of great pressure occur, you are encouraged to take a step back from the hustle and bustle and just breathe.

Driven by the Human Ego
The chaos that we experience is based on a drive by the ego to make us believe that certain earthly concerns are of the utmost importance. The human ego has a very subtle and determined way of pushing our consciousness away from the divine, as well as the light and love that is within each one of us. Awareness of when the ego is steering your actions, which is usually accompanied by a feeling of heavy pressure and a sense that your life is out of your control, can help you to recognize when it is time to take a step back and make time for self-care.

But There Is So Much to Do!
It may seem counterintuitive to set the mountain of responsibilities aside in order to take care of you, especially when you think about how that time can be used to take a significant chunk out of those tasks. But if you stop and really think about it, when are our responsibilities ever truly completed? When does the list of tasks ever end? There will always be mundane projects, responsibilities, and tasks to accomplish, because once you finish one, there are five more that have jumped in line right behind it. Interestingly, the tasks you do get done in a day are the ones you were supposed to accomplish, even if some are still big ones left on the list undone. The pressure to complete them is usually self-created. Ask yourself this when looking at your list: Will the world come to an end if I do this tomorrow instead of right this second? By the way, for those of you who are procrastinators, this is not a license to throw all responsibilities to the wind. At some point, you will need to step up and take care of those tasks, and if you take measured steps each day, you will find that your tasks are getting accomplished.

Step Back and Carve Out
It is recommended that you, especially in the midst of chaos, take the time to step back and carve out some time just for you. Tasks will always be there, but the sun rising up out of the mist on a lake will wait for no one. Hug your kids, play with your pets, schedule a massage or energy healing session, create beauty in the world…do whatever brings you happiness and makes your spirit sing a song of joy.

Carpe Diem – Seize the Day!
This day is yours to enjoy. When reviewing your life, it will not be the hours of completing an endless litany of tasks that you will remember and cherish, but rather the magical moments of connection with the people and animals in your life, the awareness of divine intervention in the realization of your dreams, the incredible beauty of nature that gives breath to your soul, and the supreme love and synchronization that you have with yourself and all of creation.

Reaping the Harvest of Self-Love
Embracing the concept of self-care is also about embracing self-love. Caring for yourself—mind, body, and spirit—is not only important, but also as essential as the air we breathe. It is a conscious choice that you can make that will provide more long-term soul benefits than any mundane task on your list. Giving yourself the gift of self-care today will reap a harvest of peace within your soul that will quiet the rush of pressing tasks, and allow you to move forward once again with renewed energy and purpose.

Divine Opportunities Delivered with Wings
The pause in the seemingly ceaseless actions will give your heavenly support team an opportunity to step into your situation and answer your prayers. Pushing with the will of ego has a tendency to block out the light, as well as divine guidance and assistance. Some of the most powerful moments in my life have come during the times that I let go of the steering wheel and took time out for self-care. It is because I left an opening for the divine to step in and help me. It is in this stillness and the release of self-imposed pressure that you, too, may experience some of the most amazing circumstances of your life.

Receiving Closure and Managing Grief Associated with the Loss of a Loved One

September 16, 2014 by SpiritMedium 2 Comments

AngelYour loved ones in spirit and other members of your heavenly support team know when you are struggling to move through certain stages of the grief process. While grieving for the loss of loved one is healthy, becoming stuck in a certain stage of the grief process can be very detrimental to your life.

Four Stages of the Grieving Process
The four main stages of the grieving process, which I describe in detail in my book, How Have You Loved?, are outlined below:

  • Denial
  • Anger
  • Sadness
  • Acceptance

A person may fluctuate between the various stages before they reach the final stage of acceptance and peace with a loved one’s passing. Often, people spend a lot of time in the second and third stages of anger and sadness. The anger is usually directed at God for “taking them away” from you, and the great sadness is often for the physical loss of the person’s presence in your life. It is important to note that God does not punish us. He does not call your loved ones back home to heaven in retaliation for any of your actions, past or present. When a soul is called home, it is because it is the time that was agreed to prior to birth.

Agreements Prior to Birth
The time and the manner in which someone physically passes is determined before a person is born on earth. In heaven, we create soul contracts which outline the various lessons that we are going to learn on our spiritual journey on earth. Members of our soul groups, such as our immediate families, coworkers, extended family members, and more, work with us to create plans that will enable each of our souls to grow and reach their full potential.

Life Lessons
The lessons that are selected may require great sacrifices, such as leaving life on earth at an early age in order to help others to learn how to cope with the tragic loss of a loved one. Successfully working through the various stages of grief and learning to accept a person’s passing are two examples of the outcomes of lessons. There is help along the way, such as messages sent to you by your loved ones in spirit, people who enter your life to provide assistance, and books that offer knowledge that broadens your understanding that endings must occur in order for new beginnings to take place.

Answers with Perfect Timing
The relationships that you have with the people around you can offer you powerful resources for healing in ways that you have not even imagined. Our heavenly support teams support us and work through us on earth by placing people in our paths at the right time and the right place. Friends, loved ones, acquaintances, and even strangers may provide answers to our prayers with a perfectly timed call, visit, or meeting that gives us the information we need about our lives. Many times, these instances seem like amazing coincidences; however, there are no coincidences, but rather fantastic examples of coordinated efforts by our heavenly support teams to answer our prayers and requests.

Heavenly Support Teams Join Together
It is interesting to note that people who come to me for spirit medium readings have actually been prompted to do so by their heavenly support teams. Your loved ones in heaven contact the loved ones in heaven who are helping me with my work on earth. Together, they begin the collaboration process to facilitate our meeting with one another.

Your heavenly support team knows when and how you would benefit from direct communications from your loved ones in spirit and the angels, and they ensure that you receive information that prompts you to set up an appointment with a spirit medium. Usually the prompting is both internal and external. You may receive messages and signs that stir your curiosity about mediumship or a reading, and you may have seemingly coincidental experiences occur in which a friend suddenly starts talking about spirit communication, or you see or read something that piques your interest about heaven and receiving messages from the Other Side.

Additionally, your loved ones in spirit will chime in by placing signs in your path that remind you of them and to, hopefully, prompt you to seek out a spirit medium or knowledge that will help you to interpret the signs and messages they send you. To get your attention, your loved ones in spirit may send you signs in the form of objects or images that make you think of them, unusual electronic disturbances that alert you to their presence, music that touches your soul and answers your prayers, and scents piped into the air, such as their perfume or cigarette smoke. Your heavenly support team will also send you intuitive messages in their attempts to steer you toward a meeting with a particular spirit medium, book, or positive path for growth.

Free Will is a Beautiful Gift
What you do with your life lessons and the promptings you receive is your choice. You may choose to ignore the assistance that makes itself known in your life every day, or you can choose to open yourself to the growth and healing that is available. Your loved ones in heaven and your angels want to help you succeed, and they will do what they can to help you on your journey. When you choose to ignore lessons and assistance, you tend to make your journey on earth significantly more challenging for yourself. When you keep an open mind and embrace the mentality that life is a spiritual journey for the benefit of the soul, then you can learn how to live your life in a way that allows the greatest benefit while releasing self-imposed stress, grief, and sadness. The beauty of the gift of free will is that each one of us is given the power to control the choices we make that govern our lives.

You Can Take It With You!
Even though someone may be physically separated from you on earth, your relationship with that person, as well as the love you share, continues on. Your loved ones in spirit watch over you from heaven, they hear your thoughts about them, and feel the love that you send their way. In return, they continuously send you messages of love, healing, and guidance, as well signs that they are around.

Receiving Closure
Your loved ones in spirit know how you would benefit from receiving information that provides healing to your heart and your soul. When participating in a spirit medium reading, they will share with you their love, information about what they are doing in heaven, advice for you about your life, information that will help heal your heart and soul, and more. The peace and healing that comes from receiving direct messages from your loved ones in spirit through a spirit medium reading can provide comfort and closure to those who are grieving, as well as guidance and light for you and your loved ones on earth.
