The Universal Gift of Spirit Communication Is Within You

Each of us is born with the ability to communicate through the hearts of our spirits with loved ones in heaven, the angels, and God. There is an invisible communication network that connects us to all beings in existence. The ability to tap into that network is a skill that can be learned, or as I like to refer to it, a skill that can be remembered. Throughout the many lifetimes we have lived, as well as the time spent in heaven, we have known of this ability and have used it. However, when we are born on earth, our memories of this ability can be veiled from us until the right time approaches. Having an open mind and an open heart helps us to retrieve the knowledge of spirit-to-spirit communication built into our souls. It also helps when you have an older soul, someone who has lived many lifetimes and whose gift is strong, to help guide you through the process and learn how to better manage it.

Benefits of Connecting with Heaven

There are many benefits to learning how to communicate via your spirit with loved ones who have crossed over into heaven, as well as the angels and God. While you may receive signs they are around, it is even better to know why they are around and what they would like to express to you beyond their love. Our loved ones in spirit help us with our lives every day, and if we can open ourselves up to their messages, we can better navigate our lives and become more open to the incredible love that streams into our souls on a daily basis. Our guys and gals in heaven know how challenging life on earth can be. Because of this and because of the great love they have for us, they do their best to support us through our earthly journeys.

Learning a New Language

Learning how to communicate via your spirit can be equated to learning a new language. This is because the way we communicate through our spirits is different from the way we communicate with one another on the earth plane. Loved ones in spirit and the angels use all of our senses to transmit messages. Seeing, feeling, hearing, tasting, smelling, and knowing are ways in which the information is received and transmitted; however, the information comes through our extrasensory senses, which go beyond our earthly senses. They also use symbols to represent information and to communicate concepts. Each person’s symbols are unique, and it takes time to decipher the codes. One of the most amazing aspects of mediumship is that it grows, deepens, and changes. Each day brings an opportunity to expand your knowledge and hone your skills.

Reawakening to the Gifts Within

Spirit mediums are not born knowing they are mediums or conduits to the Other Side. The veil that covers knowledge when we are born is lifted when the time is right for us to share our gifts. We are made aware of our gifts through many experiences, and in my case, I received a true calling that left absolutely no doubt as to my purpose in this lifetime. Not everyone receives this type of calling, nor is it always so strong. Each person has their own mission in life, and serving others in a professional capacity in this way may or may not be your purpose; however, you can still learn how to communicate with loved ones in spirit and the angels. If you feel a strong desire to learn, it is because it is necessary for the growth of your spirit to tap into beneficial guidance from heaven. As a spirit medium, I am an old soul who has been called by God to share the gift of spirit communication with you. When I received my calling, it was one of the most amazing moments in my life. I have known for a long time that my mission includes not only sharing my gifts, but also teaching others to reach within to realize their own abilities to communicate via their spirits.

Education

One of the first steps I took when reawakening to my gifts was to find a teacher to help me better understand how they worked. I trained with some of the top spirit mediums in the world, including James Van Praagh, Tony Stockwell, John Holland, and more. What amazed me the most was my experience triggered a remembering. As I attended the workshops, information recorded within my soul came flooding back and I knew how to perform tasks they were not even teaching. It was truly an amazing experience. A whole new world was opening up for me, and I knew with all of my heart and soul the time had come for me to share my gifts with the world.

What My Students Experience

Students I work with today experience an incredible shift in their mindsets while attending my workshops. It is wonderful to see people open up to spirit for the first time and to grow into their gifts and abilities. Opening up to your natural gifts and abilities is an awe-inspiring experience that floods your life with knowledge, love, and wonder about our extraordinary existence.

Understanding the Gift of Mediumship

From time to time, people ask where my gifts of mediumship come from. My answer to that question is simple. Mediumship comes from God. All the gifts and skills we have as individual human beings, whether it is the ability to communicate with loved ones in spirit, excelling at mathematics, or creating works of art, all come from our Creator. God gifts each human being with abilities to help humankind in our own special ways. We all have at least one amazing gift to share with this world. Yours is the one that brings happiness to your heart and brings out the best in you.

Soul Connections

We are all connected through the hearts of our spirits. It is the invisible network that connects us not only to one another, but also with our Heavenly Support Teams, which include God, the Archangels, our loved ones in spirit, animals (both live and deceased), spirit guides, past spiritual masters, guardian angels, and many other spiritual beings in Heaven. The great love that flows between all our souls connects us, creating a beautiful network with God at the hub. It is through this invisible network that communication between spirits, also referred to as souls, occurs.

Everyone is Born with the Gifts of Spirit Communication

Everyone is born with the ability to communicate via our spirits; however, some are more aware of this ability and are more skilled than others. This is because older souls, those who have reincarnated many times, have had more experience communicating spirit-to-spirit than younger souls. If you are meant to learn about and develop your skills in this lifetime, you will be drawn towards it through promptings by your Heavenly Support Team. Learning about your gifts can help you to remain connected with your loved ones in spirit and the angels while also allowing them to help you in this lifetime. It can also help you to help others, as professional spirit mediums do, through the sharing of detailed communications from those in spirit.

Fear and Pretenders

Often, people who fear mediumship do not understand where it comes from or how it works. They may have been misinformed about where the gifts originate or have heard stories about people who attempt to impersonate spirit mediums. It is greatly unfortunate that there are people on this Earth who would pretend to be something they are not in order to hurt or take advantage of someone. These are often younger souls, who have not had many reincarnations, who operate from a place of fear, greed, and selfishness, instead of love. They not only infiltrate the field of mediumship, but also every occupation. We have all received enough spam to know there are people in the world who try to take shortcuts by attempting to take advantage of others instead of investing their time and energy into honest and worthy pursuits. The reason it stands out with mediumship is because it is particularly wrong and hurtful to take advantage of people who are vulnerable and in need of healing. The pretenders can often be easily spotted as they use vague language, do not know what they are talking about, and cannot and do not bring through unique and detailed information from loved ones in spirit that can only be confirmed by the recipient of a reading or those who knew the deceased.

Trust and Faith

Mediumship is an extraordinary gift which comes with great responsibilities. It requires incredible trust, faith, and energy, as well as dedication and integrity, on the part of the spirit medium to be open enough to receive and share everything that is being communicated by those in spirit. Providing a reading is not a straightforward process, but rather a complex one using all the extrasensory and earthly senses. Those in spirit send combinations of images, feelings (physical and emotional), sounds (music, sound effects, words), tastes, and smells through the invisible network which connects all our souls to convey their messages. They often use symbols to get the information through faster. Spirit mediums need to learn how to decipher the unique symbols to comprehend the meanings. Although some symbols can be similar between mediums, most are not universal because each spirit medium has a unique set of experiences that spirit references to create them. Moreover, it is an ongoing process as symbols can change and new ones can be introduced throughout the lifetime of the spirit medium.

Professional spirit mediums take a leap of faith with every reading they provide. Not only do they need to be open to the communications, but also the recipient of a reading needs to be free of any preconceived notions about who is going to come through, how they come through, and what they want to share. The more open of mind and spirit the recipient is, the better the reading flows. The spirit medium has no control over how open a recipient is, which adds another layer of complexity to the process. The goals of spirit mediums are to do their best to help those on Earth to receive meaningful communications from those in spirit while helping those in spirit to convey their messages through this unique and complex form of communication across dimensions.

Not All-Knowing

Contrary to popular belief, spirit mediums do not have all the answers. Information from those in spirit is provided on a need-to-know basis. There are times when those in spirit do not provide a direct answer to a question or a clear-cut way to proceed for a recipient. This is because the recipient of the reading needs to work through issues on their own due to a life lesson or because the delivery of certain information may change the actions of the recipient in ways that would shift them away from lessons they need to learn for the benefit of their souls.

More than Sharing Direct Communications from Heaven

For some spirit mediums, providing readings is only one aspect of their life purpose. There are those who have also been called upon by those in spirit to help humankind better understand our spiritual connections and what exists beyond life on Earth. They are the spiritual teachers, who are often old souls who have reincarnated many times, who use their gifts of mediumship to explore and share the answers to the mysteries of our existence and the universe or to teach others about the gifts of mediumship. When using the gifts of mediumship to retrieve answers about our existence and the universe, the information provided by those in spirit is on a need-to-know basis to the spirit medium. It depends upon the purpose of the information and what those in spirit are permitted to share with humankind. The information often provides a bridge of understanding for certain spiritual concepts without revealing all the answers to the universe. These glimpses into the meaning of our existence helps humankind with our spiritual journeys on Earth.

Explore Your Gifts

While it is not an easy task to be a professional spirit medium, it is an amazing gift to be able to bring healing, love and knowledge through the connections and communications with those in Heaven to those on Earth. I encourage you to explore your own connections with spirit. You can learn some methods for connecting through books; however, to truly learn how to connect, it is best to find a teacher to help you with the process. Embracing Change as an Opportunity for Growth

Change, whether it is perceived as positive or negative, is inevitable. Does the thought of change make you uncomfortable or do you welcome it into your life? Changing circumstances can sometimes be difficult to embrace as they may initially come in the form of negative experiences. Challenging times offer many opportunities for growth and lessons for our souls, while at the same time, may open new vistas that would not have been available unless changes occurred. As human beings, there is a tendency to like routines. They are comfortable and often bring a feeling of safety because we know what to expect and know what is expected of us. When we least expect it, though, events may occur which throw our comfortable routines into perceived chaos, such as a job loss or the ending of an important relationship. Major events such as these can initially appear very negative; however, they can also be the catalyst for necessary and important changes, as well as lessons for our souls, which would not have come about without these events.

Fear of the Unknown

Often, resistance to change exists due to a fear of the unknown. Like routines, there is comfort to be found in that which we know. Just because we do not know what will come next, does not mean it will be negative. Taking a risk or trying something new can often lea d to amazing discoveries and opportunities for happiness and satisfaction. Clinging to the past and familiar routines prevents growth that can come from venturing beyond our norms, which is why our lives are sometimes thrown into chaos. There are times when we need to be spiritually pushed into change in order to grow as souls.

Reasons for the Changes

The events in our lives are orchestrated according to the soul contracts we made prior to being born on Earth. Soul contracts are agreements made to learn particular lessons designed to help us achieve the most growth for our souls while here. They are high-level plans which describe the lessons, but do not describe how exactly events will unfold. This is because we have the gift of free will to make choices about our lives. Therefore, events need to be organized in real-time based on the choices we make on a moment-to-moment basis. We may be presented with an opportunity to learn a specific lesson for our souls; however, due to the choices we make, we may miss the opportunity for growth. Another series of events will be orchestrated in the future to help us to learn the lesson we missed. This will occur until we learn the particular lesson, while we are also being presented with additional lessons we need to learn in other areas of our lives.

There are times when patterns can be perceived in the events we are experiencing. These patterns are clues to the lessons we need to learn. For instance, if we continually come across situations in which people are ignoring our needs, attempting to suppress our voice, or actively working against our higher good, then the lessons that need to be learned include knowing our worth and loving ourselves enough to know when to stand up and speak up for ourselves in an assertive way.

Orchestrating Events

Every event on Earth is designed to help multiple people at once. It is an extremely intricate process which requires the lining up of an incredible amount of details to bring about the changes and challenges necessary for growth. All the actions and events are directed by our Heavenly Support Teams based upon our soul contracts. To see the amazing ways in which these synchronicities are lined up is staggering with its sheer volume of details, all aimed at helping us live our lives in ways that bring about the opportunities for growth agreed to before birth.

Evolution through Change

Even though events may initially be perceived as negative, there is always a positive reason for their occurrence, which is the evolution of our souls through growth. As human beings, it is easy to get caught up in the negativity or fears surrounding change. It is the human ego, which is where our fears originate, that tries to derail us with negative thoughts of doom and gloom. The human ego is gifted to us when we are born as a generator of obstacles we are meant to learn how to manage. The negativity issued by the ego is necessary on Earth to present us with challenges for our agreed-to life lessons. In Heaven, this type of negativity does not exist. We have it on Earth because this is where we come for accelerated growth of our souls.

When major disruptions occur in our lives, we can allow ourselves to become stuck in the negative or we can work through the issues knowing there is a positive reason for their occurrence. To break out of the rut of negativity, do your best to focus on the solutions instead of the problem. Define actions you can take and start working on them. Even though events may take you on an unanticipated path, these events can also lead to a brighter future. As an example of this, when I was laid off after fifteen years with a corporate company, I could have allowed myself to wallow in the disparity of the loss. Instead, I saw it as an opportunity to invest in myself and my future by writing my first book and going full-time with my business. It took a tremendous leap of faith to do this. I cannot say that enough. I was entering a period in my life that would require great faith, extremely hard work, and strong determination to succeed. Once I made up my mind to focus on the solution, I took immediate action. Within 24 hours of being laid off, I was writing my book, contacting publishers to figure out the best steps to take, and moving forward with the expansion of my business. To this day, I am grateful for those life-changing circumstances because they pushed me into a situation that brought about opportunities to follow my passion and share my gifts with the world on a much larger scale.

You, too, can make important changes to your life. When faced with challenging circumstances, look toward solutions. Open your mind to the possibilities and let go of circumstances over which you have little to no control. It is healthy to mourn the loss of that which is gone and to acknowledge your pain; however, getting lost in the sadness by keeping your focus there for an extended period of time will not bring about the changes calling to your soul.

Moving Forward

Our lives are constantly evolving. There is comfort to be found in the familiar; however, without change there is no growth. Embrace the changes, look to the solutions, and take steps to bring about the solutions. Doing so may require great leaps of faith and hard work; however, the rewards awaiting you can bring about the very circumstances your soul needs. Whether it is a higher understanding of life’s events, the fulfillment of your personal calling, inner peace, making a positive difference in the lives of others, or much more, change can bring about opportunities that answer the call in your soul to evolve in ways which usher in personal satisfaction, meaningful growth, and profound discoveries about you and the world around you.

If Heaven Exists, Is There a Hell?

As a spirit medium, I receive insights and information about the universe, Heaven, the experiences of souls who cross over to the Other Side, and much more. A great deal of this information comes through communications with loved ones in spirit and the angels, as well as through visions, epiphanies, theophanies (experiences with God), and meditations. My natural curiosity about these topics, as well as my desire to assist those on Earth to better understand the reasons for our existence and what exists beyond life on Earth, prompts me to seek answers to our biggest questions. When receiving the answers, they are provided to me in ways we can comprehend as human beings. Our knowledge of what exists beyond life on Earth is somewhat veiled in order to provide the necessary conditions for learning lessons for our souls. What truly exists is much more magnificent and complex than most of us can conceive through our limited experiences as human beings on a spiritual journey.

Gathering Information Using Gifts of Mediumship

One of the questions I am often asked is whether Hell exists. I have seen and experienced many aspects of Heaven; however, I have, to this date, never seen or experienced anything close to the concept of Hell as provided by various religious texts. This holds true even for people who have committed grievous crimes, including murder.

To supplement the information I received through meditation journeys, visions, and communications with the Other Side about the concept of Hell, I visited Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to communicate spirit-to-spirit with deceased men who spent time on Death Row. According to its website, it was operational from April 1829 through January 1970 and housed thousands of criminals over the years, some of them notorious.

Upon asking them to reveal to me what their experience was when crossing over, they gave me the immediate impression of darkness and great confusion. Strong feelings of angst flooded their souls as they did not know what was happening or where they were. The impression I received was that these souls were stuck in purgatory, which is the temporary state of no longer existing on Earth while also not being in Heaven. Purgatory is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Hell. This may be because of the feeling of being lost which accompanies the experience, and for those who committed grievous crimes, there is an added element of torment and anguish as their mind convinces them they went to Hell. This experience can be very negative as images of the crimes they committed repeatedly play in their mind.

Others who do not cross over right away, such as those who take their own lives or who passed suddenly and are experiencing confusion about the need to cross over, have a different set of circumstances. For those who committed suicide, they need help believing they belong in Heaven. For those who crossed over very suddenly, if they do not cross over right away, I have been shown that they can become confused and may turn away from the gateway to Heaven because they feel as though they have unfinished business on Earth. These souls temporarily wander the Earth in spirit looking for assistance. It can be a very surreal experience in which they can see others on Earth, but those on Earth, other than spirit mediums, cannot see them. Ultimately, every soul receives assistance with their crossing from a spiritual being, such as the angels, or from spirit mediums who recognize their needs and call in the angels to help them cross.

What Happens to Souls Who Harm Others on Earth

Usually, when the soul is released from the physical body through death, the soul transitions to Heaven with the help of a small delegation of loved ones in spirit or the angels to help guide them to the Other Side. For those who are temporarily stuck in purgatory due to crimes they committed, there is the presence of a spiritual being who does not step forward, but rather waits patiently, without judgment, to be noticed.

Once acknowledged, the spiritual being seeks to educate the soul in the necessity of crossing over. The temporarily lost soul needs to believe they belong in Heaven in order to transition there. The amount of time it takes for the soul to believe this varies. The impressions I received from souls who existed in this surreal state included images and experiences of their crimes playing out repeatedly in their mind because of their lack of belief in their worthiness. When they are finally convinced of the need to cross over in order to receive healing and to learn from the mistakes they made while on Earth, they transition to a room, much like an interrogation room, in which they begin the review of their life. It is an objective review in which they are immersed in various scenes to discuss what took place, how it affected others and themselves, and what they could have done differently with the lessons they were to learn on Earth.

In contrast, those who were stuck in purgatory because they were confused during their sudden passing are welcomed into Heaven by their loved ones who are already there in spirit. There is a celebration in their honor in which they are reunited with all their loved ones in Heaven, including animals. For those who took their own lives, there is no celebration. These souls are in dire need of healing and are directed to the spiritual hospital to receive the help they need. Loved ones already in Heaven can visit; however, the concentration is on healing from the issues that led them to take their own lives, as well as the act of ending their lives too soon. From what has been shared with me, they spend approximately two weeks to six months Earth time in the spiritual hospital.

Levels of Heaven

Once the life review is over for the souls who brought great harm to others in life, there is no gala celebration. They are in need of healing and knowledge to help them evolve. They are assigned to what I refer to as the lower levels of Heaven, in which they dedicate their time to learning how to be a better soul and to gain understanding about the love from which we were all created.

The souls who commit grievous crimes are often young souls who have not experienced many lifetimes. They operate from a place of fear rather than love and need to reincarnate many times in order to help their souls evolve to a higher place. In contrast, older souls understand the need for compassion, empathy, and love, as well as the concept that we are here to help one another on our journeys. All of us were younger souls at some point, and when we experience life on Earth, God uses this great mixture of soul evolvement to help us help each other with the lessons destined for this lifetime.

As a soul learns lessons throughout its lifetimes, it has opportunities to progress through the levels of Heaven. Souls on the higher levels of Heaven can visit those on the lower levels; however, those on the lower levels do not have permission to visit the higher levels until they have reached the stages of their evolution which permits them to move about with more freedom. As souls progress, they are granted increasing abilities to collaborate with others in Heaven to create collective positive experiences, such as recreations of favorite times and places on Earth. Additionally, souls gain the abilities to transform their personal appearances, and most chose to look like a young version of themselves, and to create their unique space in Heaven, such as a beautiful seaside cottage or elaborate cabin in the mountains, in which loved ones in spirit, including pets, can visit and share.

The Number of Levels in Heaven

When asking about the number of levels in Heaven, the answer I receive is twelve. When we achieve the highest level, we can remain in existence as an angel helping other souls, or we can choose to be fully reintegrated into the highest energy form, which I refer to as God or the God Force. From there, new souls are created, and the process begins anew. This is not to be mistaken for reincarnation. Reincarnation is the same soul living many lifetimes. The reintegration into the God Force is the completion of the soul’s existence after it has reached the highest pinnacle of soul growth.

How Long Does It Take to Fully Evolve as a Soul?

There is no set time frame for the evolution of a soul. Whether young, old, or somewhere in between, each soul progresses at its own pace with its own lessons and purposes for each lifetime. Lessons can be learned while in Heaven; however, when we decide to be reborn on Earth, it is to accelerate the growth of our souls through more challenging experiences. The negativity which exists on Earth does not exist in Heaven. We can stay in Heaven for certain lessons; however, in order to experience the greater challenges, we need to reincarnate for lessons on Earth.

Concept of Hell

As for the concept of the fiery Hell proclaimed in various religious texts, the creation of this type of vision may have been conceptualized as a way of getting society to behave in a certain manner through fear tactics. It may also come from impressions by ancient seers and mediums, many of which are past spiritual masters, about souls temporarily lost in purgatory. As I mentioned, the souls who committed grievous crimes gave me the impressions of the misery they endured while stuck in purgatory. What was not understood or shared in the religious texts was the continuation of the souls’ journeys to Heaven once they believed they belonged.

Every soul is given the opportunity to learn and grow, even those who have done great harm while on Earth. During their life reviews, they experience the consequences of their actions in order to learn how to improve and evolve. If the lessons are not learned or cannot be completed during their stay in the lower levels of Heaven, then they are incorporated into their soul contracts for their next lifetime.

Each of us was created with loving care and are provided with opportunities to better ourselves and evolve as souls. Just as children on Earth grow and learn, our souls do so on a much grander scale. If a child makes a mistake, even a big one, there are consequences which are dealt with, but also the opportunity to learn from that mistake. It is the same with our souls. Embracing Change as an Opportunity for Growth

butterfly illustrationMany times, I have expressed that life on Earth is about learning lessons for our souls. Challenging times offer many opportunities for growth, while at the same time, may open up new vistas that would not have been available unless we experienced changes in our lives. As human beings, we have a tendency to like routines. They are comfortable and often bring a feeling of safety because we know what to expect and know what is expected of us. When we least expect it, events may occur which throw our comfortable routines into what is perceived as chaos, such as a job loss or the ending of an important relationship. Major events such as these can initially be perceived as very negative; however, they can also be the catalyst for necessary and important changes, as well as lesson learning, in our lives that would not have come about without these events.

Fear of the Unknown

Resistance to change exists due to a fear of the unknown. Like routines, there is comfort to be found in that which we know. Just because you do not know what will come next, does not mean it will be negative. Taking a risk or trying something new can often lead to amazing discoveries and opportunities for happiness and satisfaction. Clinging to the past and familiar routines prevents growth that can come from venturing beyond your norms into new experiences, which is why our lives are sometimes thrown into chaos. There are times when we need to be spiritually pushed into change in order to grow as souls.

Reasons for the Changes

The events in our lives are orchestrated according to the soul contracts we made prior to being born on Earth. Soul contracts are agreements made to learn particular lessons designed to help us achieve the most growth for our souls while on Earth. They are high-level plans which describe the lessons, but do not describe how events will unfold on Earth. This is because we have the gift of free will to make choices about our lives. Therefore, events need to be organized in real-time based on the choices we make on a moment-to-moment basis. We may be presented with an opportunity to learn a specific lesson for our souls; however, due to the choices we make, we may miss the opportunity for growth. Another series of events will be orchestrated in the future to help us to learn the lesson we missed. This will occur until we learn the particular lesson, while we are also being presented with other lessons we need to learn.

Orchestrating Events

Every event on Earth is designed to help multiple people at once. It is an extremely intricate process which requires the lining up of an incredible amount of details to bring about the changes and challenges necessary for growth. All the actions and events are directed by our Heavenly Support Teams based upon our soul contracts. To see the amazing ways in which these synchronicities are lined up is staggering with its sheer volume of details, all aimed at helping us live our lives in ways that bring about the opportunities for growth agreed to before birth.

Evolution through Change

Even though events may initially be perceived as negative, there is always a positive reason for their occurrence, which is the evolution of our souls through growth. As human beings, it is easy to get caught up in the negativity or fears surrounding change. It is the human ego, which is where our fears originate, that tries to derail us with negative thoughts of doom and gloom. The human ego is gifted to us when we are born as a generator of obstacles we are meant to learn how to manage. The negativity issued by the ego is necessary on Earth to present us with challenges for our agreed-to life lessons. In Heaven, this type of negativity does not exist. We have it on Earth because this is where we come for accelerated growth of our souls.

When major disruptions occur in our lives, we can allow ourselves to become stuck in the negative or we can work through the issues knowing there is a positive reason for their occurrence. To break out of the rut of negativity, do your best to focus on the solutions instead of the problem. Define actions you can take and start working on them. Even though events may take you on an unanticipated path, these events can also lead to a brighter future. As an example of this, when I was laid off after fifteen years with a corporate company, I could have allowed myself to wallow in the disparity of the loss. Instead, I saw it as an opportunity to invest in myself and my future by writing my first book and going full-time with my business. It took a tremendous leap of faith to do this. I cannot say that enough. I was entering a period in my life that would require great faith, very hard work, and strong determination to succeed. Once I made up my mind to focus on the solution, I took immediate action. Within 24 hours of being laid off, I was writing my book, contacting publishers to figure out the best steps to take, and moving forward with the expansion of my business. To this day, I am grateful for those life-changing circumstances because they pushed me into a situation that brought about opportunities to follow my passion and share my gifts with the world on a much larger scale.

You, too, can make important changes to your life. When faced with challenging circumstances, look to solutions. Open your mind to the possibilities and let go of that which you cannot change. It is healthy to mourn the loss of that which is gone and to acknowledge your pain; however, getting lost in the sadness by keeping your focus there for an extended period of time will not bring about the changes calling to your soul.

Moving Forward

Our lives are constantly evolving. There is comfort to be found in the familiar; however, without change there is no growth. Embrace the changes, look to the solutions, and take steps to bring about the solutions. Doing so may require great leaps of faith and hard work; however, the rewards awaiting you can bring about the very circumstances your soul needs. Whether it is a higher understanding of life’s events, the fulfillment of your personal calling, inner peace, making a positive difference in the lives of others, or much more, change can bring about opportunities that answer the call in your soul to evolve in ways which usher in personal satisfaction, meaningful growth, and profound discoveries about you and the world around you.

Spirit Medium Readings: A Two-Part Process

Spirit Medium Karen T. HluchanWhen you sit for a spirit medium reading with me, there are two parts to the reading for each loved one in spirit who comes through. The first part of the reading involves identifying the loved one coming through, and the second part of the reading involves the sharing of his or her personal message for you. It is very important to identify who is there in spirit before sharing the message, because who it is coming from is as important as the message itself. Without knowing the identity of the message sender, some messages would make little to no sense to the receiver.

How Information is Transmitted
When spiritual beings communicate with me, they utilize all of my senses—sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste, and inner-knowing (the sixth sense)—for mind to mind communication. Instead of processing information that is picked up by the senses and sent to the brain from outside of myself, I need to focus within to pick up on the information that is being transferred to me from your loved ones in spirit. The process is much more complex than just sitting down and talking with someone. Spiritual beings no longer inhabit a physical body and, therefore, must use their minds and other energetic means to communicate across dimensions. It is an abstract form of communication that requires absolute trust, openness, and receptivity from me, openness and receptivity from you, and clarity and loving strength from your loved ones in spirit.

Confidentiality and Ethics
As a spirit medium, it is my job to clearly relay the information I am receiving in an ethical, honest, and responsible way. It is a great honor to be able to serve you and all spiritual beings through my gifts, and I treat each communication that I receive and share with the reverence it deserves. Because of the very private information that is shared in a reading, I also take your confidentiality very seriously. While, in a teaching setting, I may give examples of certain communications that come through in a reading, I do not disclose names or identities. Private information remains private. This even holds true for my own family members. When I provide a reading, the information remains confidential. It is up to the person sitting for the reading to share what he or she wants to divulge with others.

Part One: Validating the Identity of the Communicator

Questions and Responses
When giving a reading, I have a set of questions that I ask your loved ones in spirit when you and I are working together to identify them. The questions are basic in the beginning, and then they become more in-depth as we go deeper into the validation process. For instance, I ask “Are you male or female?” and “What did you look like?” In response, I receive warmth on the right or left side of my body to indicate male or female, and I am sent an image of your loved one which usually shows what they looked like close to the time of their passing, as you would remember them best, or as they would like to be remembered. The image that they send not only shows me how they looked, but also may give me keys to understanding your loved one’s personality and identity, as well as the relationship they have with you. For instance, when a man comes through wearing red or maroon, this indicates to me that he is a father figure to you. If he is wearing a flannel shirt, it indicates that he may have been more of the outdoorsy type who preferred to spend time outside more than inside. At the same time, he may be creating a tingling sensation in both my hands and sending me an image of a machine shop, indicating that he worked with his hands using the machinery that I am seeing.

Identifying the Communicator
As the information is transmitted, I share it with you, the sitter. When I have gathered enough specific information that could help you to identify a loved one, I will ask whether this person or animal (pets do come through!) sounds familiar to you. The best answer you can give is yes, no, or I don’t know. If the person sounds familiar, but you are not quite sure of who it is, please state that. More information will be brought forth to help you identify them. If you say no and continue to do so as more information is brought forth, I will have to ask your loved one to step aside, and a message from that particular loved one will not be shared. It is important to note that when loved ones come through in a reading, they are yours. They are not mine, nor are they random beings popping in to intrude on your reading. They could be a deceased friend, family member, a pet of yours or of someone you know or knew, neighbor, in-law, acquaintance, or co-worker. It could be a great grandmother that you never met, but who knows you from seeing you from heaven. If this is the case, there may be records, photographs, and people still living that may be able to help you confirm the identity of the person coming through.

My best advice is to keep an open mind. You never know who is going to come through in a reading, nor do you know how they are going to come through, or what messages they will share with you. Remember, they are coming through with information from their point of view, not yours, and they also have the benefit of understanding more about life on earth now that they are in heaven.

Deeper into the Validation
As I am sharing information with you, I am, at the same time, asking for more information from your loved one in spirit about what he or she did for a living, and how he or she passed. You do not hear that part of the communication because I am asking those questions directly to your loved ones in spirit using my mind, not speaking them out loud. In addition to seeing what the communicator looked like, they will also send me symbols that mean something to you, and will help you to identify them. For example, as I was describing a father figure who was coming through, he sent me an image of a lemon. I asked the sitter if this meant something to her in relation to her father, and she replied that it did…her father used to eat lemons raw. This piece of information, in addition to the description of him and various other factors about his personality, what he did for a living, and how he passed, confirmed for her that it was indeed her father. He was well-known for eating this unique culinary delight. The symbols are unique for each individual, and are sent to help trigger your memories of them.

As I mentioned, all of my senses are utilized during a spirit medium reading, and your loved ones in spirit may be communicating with me utilizing several of them at the same time. This rapid overlapping of visions, sounds, tastes, smells, feelings, and knowingness creates a richer and more detailed communication that helps both you and me to identify and understand the messages that are being conveyed. For instance, when I am trying to identify how a person passed, I may be feeling a push like an impact in the region of my chest, seeing a car rolling over, and hearing the word “accident” all at the same time. This indicates to me that the person most likely passed due to an impact to the chest during a car accident.

Wanting to Hear from a Particular Loved One
If for some reason a loved one in spirit does not come through in a reading, it does not mean that they do not love you or want to communicate with you. There are many reasons why this might happen. For instance, other loved ones in spirit may want to share messages during a particular reading because the message coming from them would have a greater impact on your life. It may also be too soon to hear from someone in spirit. Even though contact can be made with loved ones who are recently passed, it is a good idea to give both them and you time to adjust to the transitions that have occurred. For those of us on earth, we need time to grieve. For those who have passed, they need time to reorient themselves to heaven. In most cases, it is good to wait at least two months before sitting for reading in which you hope to hear from a person who has passed. That said, when people ask to hear from a particular person I cannot guarantee that they will come through. I can ask them to join us for the reading; however, it is up to your loved one in spirit whether they come through at that time. Free will is a gift that is ours to keep, including after we cross over into heaven.

Let the Information Flow
Your loved ones in spirit do their best to convey information in a way that helps you to readily identify who they are in order to get to the heart of the reading, which is their personal message to you. One way to bog down this process is to continually interject questions such as, “What is their name?” or “If this is really my cousin, where did she go on vacation in 1972?” If it is appropriate for your loved ones in spirit to furnish this information in a reading, they will do so without prompting. They do not have time during a reading to give every minute detail of your life or theirs. They truly are doing their best to communicate. Some loved ones in spirit are more skilled than others at communicating with spirit mediums. Like any skill, it is knowledge that is learned, and some have had more practice at it than others.

Even though you may have a set idea in your mind about the information you would like to receive, it is important to know that I, as the spirit medium, receive only the information that is shared by your loved ones in spirit. He or she decides the type of information to be imparted, and this might not include preconceived notions of what you think they would share with you. Continually interjecting with questions has the potential to disrupt the flow of spirit-to-spirit communication, which requires a steady energetic connection and level of concentration that exceeds every day communications.

In my mind, I like to think of us as a team working together in harmony to transmit, receive, and share communications across the dimensions. By permitting communications to naturally flow from their spirit through mine to yours, you are allowing your loved ones in spirit to convey messages in the way they think is best, which will help you to get the most out of your reading. After you have identified your loved one in spirit and they have shared their messages with you, you can ask questions of them if you have them.

Part Two: Personal Messages for You

Sharing Knowledge, Love, and Guidance
Once the identity of your loved one in spirit has been established, it is time for part two of the communication process with your loved one in spirit – his or her personal messages for you. There is always an important reason for a loved one coming through in a reading. Often, they share messages of import regarding your life. This could be about events that occurred in the past, are occurring presently, or will occur in the future. Your loved ones in spirit watch over you from heaven, and they know what you are in need of with regard to your life. That said, what they share with you is not trivial. They have gone through a lot of effort to communicate across dimensions, and what they share could have a profound effect on your life and the evolution of your soul.

Messages of love, forgiveness, guidance, and more are shared with the hope that you, the sitter, will be open and receptive to the messages. For example, I have had loved ones in spirit come through asking for forgiveness for abusive treatment, neglect, or having a hard time sharing love. The forgiveness that he or she is asking for is not for the benefit of the communicator, but for the recipient of the reading. It may be imperative for the sitter to release all of the pent up negativity and resentment against this person in order to move on with his or her life, and begin to establish healthier relationships with others. Other times, loved ones come through to let a sitter know that they are, indeed, in heaven and at peace, and that his or her passing was meant to be. Each message that comes through is crafted with divine love, and gets to the heart of matters that are most important to the sitter from the viewpoint of heaven. It is up to the sitter whether he or she chooses to accept the information given, and to use it in a way that uplifts and improves his or her life.

Equally Important
Both parts of a spirit medium reading are equally important to you, the sitter. Validating the identity of the being coming through establishes the connection between you and your loved ones in spirit, and also provides the background context for the messages you are about to receive from them. The messages that come through from your loved ones in spirit contain invaluable pieces of information that come from the heart of their spirit to yours, and are divinely conceived and directed.

It is my hope that this article provided you with a more thorough understanding of how spirit communication works, as well as an appreciation for the complex process of communicating spirit-to-spirit. I also hope that it allows you to get the most out of your next spirit medium reading.
