Have you ever had a beloved object disappear then reappear in an unusual location? Have you experienced photographs and artwork tilted or fallen off walls or knocked over on tabletops?
As strange as it may seem, beings in spirit, including our loved ones in spirit, have the ability to move and manipulate objects on Earth. They can also remove objects from our dimension to take them to another dimension. Most of the time, the objects are returned around the same location from which they were borrowed or they are placed in our path in an extraordinary way. Whenever it occurs, it is important to know your loved ones in spirit are around and are helping you with your life.
How Do Spirits Move Objects?
Everything in existence is made of energy. The ability to move and manipulate objects on Earth from another dimension is performed through the altering of energy. A relatable way of thinking of this is from the movie, “Ghost,” in which Patrick Swayze’s character in spirit pushes an object using an intense concentration of his energies. It is similar for our loved ones in spirit. Manipulating energy takes practice. They can learn how to do that, as well as how to manipulate energy to send signs of their presence, including but not limited to, placing objects in front of you that remind you of them, adding scents in the air that make you think of them, a strong feeling of their presence, and much more.
Why Do Spirits Move Objects?
There is much more to our existence than what appears to be. Our loved ones in spirit help us to become more aware of that through the signs they send. The ability to move objects is one of the signs that really gets our attention and is a phenomenon that is hard to explain away as a coincidence. They want us to know they are around, and this is one of the ways they get our attention.
While the borrowing or moving of objects often involves a beloved object, our loved ones in spirit are not doing this to upset us. They know we will pay attention to items important to us, which is why they choose those objects. The timing of when the objects disappear and reappear is also important, as this is when our loved ones in spirit are letting us know they are around and that they are supporting us.
There are cases in which a beloved object previously owned by a loved one in spirit disappears and cannot be found. Sometimes the connection with those objects is so strong that loved ones in spirit take them with them when they cross over or take them to another dimension at a later time. They do not mean to upset you when they do this. Again, it is their strong connection which drives them to bring it up to Heaven with them. The items may be returned at a later date, or they may be kept by those in Heaven. Most of the time items are returned. It can be a matter of minutes, hours, days, months, or years. In the rare instance an item is not returned, it is because of the strong attachment a loved one in spirit has with the object.
Personal Cases of Missing Jewelry
Many years ago, I was upset because I could not find two rings that were gifted to me by a family member. They were the first real rings I had ever owned and I thought it was my carelessness that caused me to misplace them. I even wrote about it in the journal I kept, noting the date and my upset with the loss. Exactly six months to the day that I lost the rings and one month from the day that I was moving to a new home, the rings were found resting on a white carpet in the middle of the doorway to my mother’s bedroom. My mom was in her room at the time and I asked her if she had had them sitting on the antique sewing machine which was right next to the door. I could not fathom how they had arrived in the location they did and my only logical thought was that she had them and they were knocked off the sewing machine table onto the floor. My mom stated that she did not have them at any time. She knew I had lost them and stated she would have told me if she found them. As we stared in awe at the rings sparkling on the floor, I thought it was the woman in spirit who used to own my mother’s home who borrowed my rings. Because there have been many other instances which I can attribute to them, I believe it was my great grandparents in spirit who borrowed the rings and brought them back, as they built the home I was moving into.
Another example of jewelry borrowing happened when I was standing in front of my four-foot-tall dresser taking my jewelry off after getting home from an event. As I removed one of my earrings, it fell from my hand, hit my shoe, and bounced off. I heard and felt the earring hit the top of my shoe. I had the immediate impression that the earring was no longer in this dimension. I had the distinct feeling it had been borrowed as had happened to other pieces in the past. Even so, I looked for it on the floor and could not find it. Two weeks later, I opened the second drawer of the dresser to find a pair of socks. As I reached in, I heard something scraping the bottom of the drawer as I moved the socks to find the pair I wanted. As I moved them aside, I found the earring that had disappeared. There is no logical way the earring bounced up three feet off the toe of my shoe and into a closed drawer. When I asked who in spirit was responsible for the borrowing of my jewelry, the impression I received was from my mischievous best friend, Al. He liked to have a little fun with me and this was his way of getting my attention.
Other Ways Spirit Moves Objects
While jewelry seems to be a favorite object to borrow or move, loved ones in spirit have the capability to move or manipulate any objects. My dad loves to tilt pictures and even knocked over a small painting of my sister and me. My best friend, Al, used to love changing the time on a battery-powered clock I owned. All in all, there is no limit to what they can do; however, it is good to keep in mind that they move or borrow objects mainly to gain our attention in order to let us know they are around. All actions they take come from a place of love as there is no negativity in Heaven.

I had a generational ring of my mother mine and my daughters buirth stones given to me by my parents several yrs after my father died the ring disappeared from my jewelry box in a drawer. I thought the neighbor child who visited my aughter took it , but I found it in another drawer several months later in a ring box which it never was in before. I think it was my dad letting me know and trying to get my attention

About two weeks after purchasing two identical pairs of socks, one of the four matching socks seemingly vanished from the laundry room. These were not inexpensive socks so I searched the laundry room, the clothes basket, the closet, the corner of my folded sheets, towels etc… it was not to be found. I kept the single sock ‘just in case’. I couldn’t imagine what happened to it and Inever stopped looking. About two years later I found the sock in the corner of a drawer that I had been in numerous times and cleaned out at least once over that two year period. The last time I had seen the sock it was in the laundry room in the basement and somehow it appeared in a drawer containing shirts in my closet. I’m currently looking for my favorite pair of yoga pants…🙃

My husband and I have been putting puzzles together. Last week when we finished we noticed 2 pieces missing. Looked everywhere and then last night i reached for something on a side table next to my chair, and there was the “2” missing pieces. Things like this happen at least a couple times a year. It doesn’t bother me at all. One if my sweet angels are messing with me 💕

Three and a half years ago, I moved house. I was very depressed and had gotten off my spiritual path. Because of the depression, I lost a lot of things in that move including a handmade candle snuffer that lived on my alter. I just recently resumed my spiritual journey this year. On April 1st, I was looking for a window to put my alter stones in so they would charge in the light of the full moon. As I was looking in the kitchen window, something caught my eyes. There, on the top of the lower window pane, sat my candle snuffer. I was delighted but mystified. I have no idea why on earth I would have put a candle snuffer there. I don’t think I did. I think it was placed there as a positive affirmation that I’m on the right spiritual path. Now that candle snuffer has it’s place on one of my alters again, and it’s a little positive sign ever time I see it.

I dissapeared (it turnt on fire was next to a candle) from a photograph. I held it at my altar. Only I dissapeared from it a circle is missing, the rest of the photograph ia still intact, I saw the fire and blew it out. This incident felt uncomfortable. In the picture I am around 6 years old. No family members in the picture, it is a picture of swimming with an adult woman/ friend from vacation at that time.
Hello Sifra – Thank you for sharing your story. There is nothing ominous about the burning of the photo. It was too close to the flame. if anything, I would take it as a precaution to be very careful placing anything near an open flame. Glad you caught it before it caused a fire in your home!

My family thinks I am getting alzheimers since this happened! A few weeks ago I was trying to reach something on a high shelf in my closet where I have about 7 boxes of puzzles. I had to get a step stool to reach the book and I noticed a funny handle behind the puzzle boxes. As I started to pull it out I noticed another one.I pulled them both out and of all things they were swords! Real ones not toy ones. Noone goes in my closet but me unless I ask someone too, and I live in a big house with my grandaughter living upstairs. I layed these swords on the living room floor and called her down.She asked what are they and said get them off the floor the cats may cut themselves on them.
I asked everyone I know who was ever in my house and all my kids etc and they thought I was making it up until I sent them photos I took of these swords. They insist I must have bought them but I never did and wouldnt. I told them Why in the heck would I buy swords!!! Never…. I am at a loss and cannot sleep if I think about them, which I do often.
Can you think of any explanations for this??
Hello Lani – Thank you for sharing your story. I am getting the impression that the swords were not placed there by anyone in spirit, but rather a human being. Was it only you and your granddaughter living there? Was there anyone else who lived there before, even on a temporary basis?

During Covid times I lost an earring while going to work. I needed to see a client first, so I put myself nice together and I checked my ear lobes several times after leaving the house. After the client I proceeded driving to my work where I had to put on masks and hair net. Returning back to my car, one ear ring was gone. It was not an expensive item but irreplaceable. I searched the garbage (thought it fell out with removing masks and hair net), walked all the ways, checked the car, but couldn’t find it and I cried about it. Later at home, having dinner at my table in bare feet (summer) I felt something sharp on the carpet under the table with my foot and it turned out to be the missing ear ring, I couldn’t believe it. The ear ring was a stud and had the plug on. If it fell out of my ear before leaving the house, how come the plug was on. Also I am pretty sure I checked for the ear rings in my ear even after leaving the house, but the longer time passes, the more you start questioning yourself. I asked a medium later if a related spirit got me the ear ring back and the medium said, yes, and the spirit needed to ask for help to do that. Anyways, I totally believe that while my mom thinks I simply lost the ear ring under the table myself.
I found this page today looking for a different answer. In the past few months I was wishing to have a prayer book, or an app, but I didn’t find anything appealing. I’m also in the process of going through all my stuff and de-cluttering. From one of my bags I recover this tiny red prayer book (5 inch size) and I thought oh I can use this now and put it on my bedside table. Some time goes by and I take this book, it’s in old German writing before my time, published after 1950s, it was never mine (70s child). So I start wondering, how did this end up between my things here in USA. And finding it NOW when I was recently wishing for something like this, what a coincidence. I recently did open a bag that had some old childhood books and memoria in it, so it is possible that it came that way naturally, but I don’t remember this book at all. So I’m considering that my grandma could have interfered again and brought it to me now. Either way, it’s beautiful and I cherish it.

I lived with my Mum and cared for her for for the last few months, I was with her all of the time and when she passed to Spirit. A few days later cooking I opened a kitchen cabinet which I use everyday and everything flew out smashing the candle in glass jar that he’d been by her bedside for days and breaking glass jars. I was numbstruck. I really didn’t know what to make of it. Any ideas?

I am sending my heartfelt condolences to you. I am sorry for the loss of your mother. She had just crossed over a few days before this incident and did not mean to smash the jars and candle. Sometimes in their excitement to send you a sign, loved ones in spirit who are not used working with the energies between Heaven and Earth can be a bit strong or do something they did not intend. Loved ones in spirit often showing me that they need to learn how to work with the energies in order to send signs and to communicate. The older the soul, meaning someone who had experienced many lifetimes, the easier it is because they have had many lifetimes to learn. I am getting the impression your mother was excited to let you know she was in Heaven. She truly did not mean to scare you or break anything in the manner she did. She certainly got your attention, though!

My 40 year old daughter died 10 months ago.
After she was dead only a few weeks
I had her phone, which was still in service at the time. I was working on her phone all day , archiving texts, photo’s and videos. I suddenly noticed my phone was showing a red broken arrow call from her at 7:08 pm
So im thinking ‘ ive been fooling around in her phone all day . That has to be from me .’
But then I thought , ‘ wait, that could be a sign.”
So i figured if there is a record on her phone of the attempted call then its me. If there is no record. Then something strange is going on
So I go back to her phone to look at her
Recent Call history , to see if her phone shows an attempted call by her to me at 7:08. And when I did I accidently called my phone from hers and my phone immediately starts ringing showing “kristie” was calling
I was so spooked seeing a call from her , even though I knew it was ME calling, that I frantically Hung up. So franticly that I called my phone again.
Twice in a row.
I walked away from that situation for a few hrs to calm down and get some composer and
When I returned I checked her phone.
Its showed that she called me (or should I say I called myself from her phone) twice in a row at 10:30 pm
But showed no attemted call to me at 7:08 pm . Actually no outing calls at all except my 2 calls for weeks.
My phone, on the other hand , had my two calls in a row from her phone at 10:30 pm and an earlier attempted red broken arrow call from her phone at 7:08 pm.
So that was defintly a sign.
So now here’s were it gets interesting
Here it is now , over 9 months later
And I have recieved no signs from her since then.
And I’m thinking that I really miss her so and would love to get a sign
I was driving the other morning and I spoke out loud to kristie. Telling her I needed a sign. I said ” I wish I could know if there is a way to Communicate with you”
those were my exact words
‘Communicate with you’
Later that night I got some chinese take out. When I was cleaning up afterwords, I was throwing out the bag the food came in and noticed a fortune cookie at the bottom of the bag. And thought ” maybe I should read that fortune cookie. But I brushed it off as silly and left it in the garbage.
Later , when I was washing the dishes
I was getting this nagging feeling that I should go back.into.the garbage and not throw out that cookie.
I don’t know what compelled me to feel.that way but suddenly I did.
When I opened it and read it. I was shocked. It said. “Your communication skills will be hightened on a Tuesday ”
I called my friend and he was asking questions like
“What date did she die
…25th? …is this tueday the 25th? ..no
So its not that”
..
…Trying to find some kind of correlation
Then he asked “Wait , remember when she first died and your phone showed a call from her.? Do you kmow what date that was?.” So I went back and checked
It was 08/19/ 25….it was on a…TUESDAY.
So now I had a cross reference of BOTH signs that related to each other
Months apart.
But it gets even weirder
And what im about to say seems to defy the laws of physics itself.
Before I went to bed, I made sure I put the tiny sliver of paper from the fortune cookie
On my table All the way in the corner to the left side.
When I woke up the next morning it was totally gone.
I knew were I.put it.
I immediately cleared the table, checking everything
Until the table had nothing left on.it.
It was gone. I tore the living room apart looking for that little sliver of paper. I looked under the table. in the couch , lifed the couch, looked under it
Pulled up.the rug , swept the room , went through the kichen garbage,,….nothing.
You know how it is when you missplace something and are just about giving up, you start to desperately look in stupid places as a last resort.
Well , I went back to the table and was
Peaking through cracks to see if maybe it slipped in a Crack or something .
So it was not on the table . Nowhere to be found in the room
I was pretty angry at myself for being so careless in.loosing it but resigned myself to the fact it was lost and was thankful I even got the sign and at least had took a photo of the fortune message.
So I still.had that.
I came back about 2 hrs later
Walked into the living room and as soon as I walked in I see, it ,clear as day
Right on the table.
It was in the exact same position
All the way to the side corner
Except now it was in the right corner instead of the left.
What I cant understand is
HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE TO ACCOMPLISH.?
Its like tellacinesis.
Can the dead really do this stuff?
This doesn’t scare me at all
It just baffles me. I actually love it.
As far as im concerned ” keep the signs coming!
When my father died. an actual aberration of him appeared to my cousin’s husband in their bedroom
And talked to him.
I remember we got a call from them at 3 am in the morning
Woke the whole house up
Her husband was totally freaked out about it
My father told him that
He was upset that ” they wont let my family see me till 30″
We were racking our brains trying to figure out what that could possibly mean. Then two weeks later we went to the cemetery and they told us
” im sorry. Thats a new section , some of those Graves are still open . You have to wait 30 days to go to that section
Its cemetery policy.”
Now see…me?
I WOULD LOVE IT IF AN APERATION OF MY DAGHTER VISITED ME!!
But , alas , what happened in my cousins bedroom.3 am in 1980

Thank you for sharing your stories. My heartfelt condolences to you about the loss of your daughter. There are many ways our loved ones can appear to us; however, it takes a lot of energy on their part and openness on our part for that to happen (Note: I have articles about this on my website under the Inspirational Blog page).
Our loved ones in spirit are capable of many things, just as you described and more. The can and do send signs through phones, as well as through the movement of objects as I described in my article. As for the science behind it, the simple explanation is that everything is made of energy. The abilities they have up above for manipulating it exceed what we can do here on Earth. I am glad they can do what they do because it is quite comforting for all of us to receive signs from them that use all our senses (Note: Again, I have several articles about this on my website under the Inspirational Blog page).
I hope that you, too, see your daughter…when you are envisioning her in your mind, she is the one sending the image to you. Usually loved ones send an image of a favorite photo at first. They can change up the photos, as well as how they appear to you.
